I lean into your kiss for my sanity

So give me all your loving for my vanity

Michael

"Latoya, you okay," I ask, noticing my sister's pout and crossed arms. She glares at me and scoffs. Well, excuse me for being concerned. Rolling my eyes, I turn my attention back to the game of Gin Rummy Randy is kicking Jackie's ass in.

"Michael, what's the name of this game," Randy asks. I know he knows the name of it, so why is he asking me?

"Spades, Randy. What do you think the name of it is," I reply, rolling my eyes. He slams his cards down in front of all of us, mostly making me jump. What? He can't be doing that. My nerves are bad.

"Gin," He smiles triumphantly. Instantly, I start laughing in Jackie's face. What's even funnier is that they bet on this game. Jackie is grumbling while taking his money out of his wallet and handing it over. Oh my God, I can't breathe I'm laughing so hard.

"Wanna play the next round, Mike? I'm feeling extremely lucky right now," Randy grins. I start to decline, but then I hear my fiancee's voice, "Can I play?" All eyes land straight on her as she smiles at us.

"Hey, let's let the couple play against each other," Jackie says, nudging Randy. That's actually not a bad idea and it sound like fun. Sweets sits across from me as she reshuffles the deck. Lord, if she wasn't attractive to me before, watching her shuffle this deck is turning me all the way on.

"Let's make it more interesting. Loser has to make or go get dinner and has to feed the winner. Ooh, and give them dessert," Jackie explains.

"Y'all are so nasty," Sweets laughs, which makes all of us laugh too. I instantly begin to blush and cover my face. Why are my brothers so embarrassing?

"Well, you two are about to be married so you gotta be more willing to give him something girl! Well judging from how tight that dress is, y'all have already started," Jackie says, poking her stomach. Still smiling, she slaps his arm.

"I just ate, thank you." She begins to deal out our cards.

"You ready for this, babe," I ask, getting my cards together. I love making bets with Kierra, but my favorite part is winning them. Just yesterday, I bet her to see who could two warheads in their mouth the longest. I'm still waiting to see her in that majorette uniform. Boots, baton, and all.

"Babe, I love ya, but I just gotta tell ya one thing," she says. I lift my eyebrows at her as she smiles slyly. Oh, crap.

"Gin!" She laughs and leans over the table to give me a kiss. It was a good game, so I'm glad to lose to my love. Happily, I greet her lips with mine.

"Can you two please," Latoya groans. I hear Kierra kiss her teeth. This only means one thing: it's about to go down. She rests her head on index finger and thumb, glaring at Toya. All me and my brothers can do is watch this unfold.

"You have no decency, Kierra. A lady does not put her love life out for all to see," Toya raves. Kierra throws a glance my way. Her eyes say: Sorry babe, but I'm about to read your sister her rights. Aw, hell.

Kierra

I did not come all the way here to have Latoya try and give me a lesson on being a lady. "What would you know about being lady-like when your titties have grazed the pages of playboy? Seriously, Latoya, chill. I'm trying so hard to keep from cursing you to high heaven out of respect for Mama Katherine and Papa Joe, but girl. You are pushing it," I snap. Though I feel satisfied with telling Latoya off, the look on Michael's face sends a sledgehammer through my heart. Damn my mouth for being so quick, but really Michael can't blame me. Latoya has been sending me negative vibes since she came here. I'll address Michael later, but Latoya is asking for more.

"At least that was a job! People in America don't just love your smile, so my friends tell me." I reach up to massage my earlobes, or so it seems. Really, I'm unhooking them, just in case I need to get stupid. Before I can snap right back at her, Randy steps in, "Latoya, you should be ashamed of yourself. Instead of being happy for your baby brother, you're being hateful. What is your problem," he asks. We all turn our heads, waiting for her to answer. She doesn't answer, but huffs her breath and walks away. I almost charge after her. Almost.

Michael

My family finally left. I'm so glad Janet had a good birthday, for the most part. She deserves it for all her hard work. I walk into my bedroom and into my fiance's puppy-dog eyes. I've been hitting her with the silent treatment after her little showdown with Latoya.

"Michael, will you talk to me now," she whines, grabbing my arm. I simply shrug her off and head into the bathroom. If I thought she'd leave me alone, I was dead wrong. I keep underestimating her persistence. She follows me in and sits on the toilet.

"I'm not letting it go, Michael. You have to see it from my point," she sighs, "And you really don't have a legitimate reason to be mad at me." After I spit out my toothpaste, I catch her gaze. "You could have handled it better," I finally reply. She scoffs, rolls her eyes and walks out of the bathroom. Tugging at my tie, I relieve my hair of its stress.
"Aah," I sigh. When I walk out the bathroom, I find Kierra nowhere in sight. Where did that girl get too? Completely exhausted, I decide to look for her later. It would be nice to have her sleeping next to me, though. The guilt for making her feel bad slowly creeps into my mind. She did have a good point about me really having a good reason to be mad. Oof! I open on eye and see Kierra on top of me. Silently, I chuckle to myself.
"I'm sorry Michael. I'm sorry. Just say something to--"
"I love you, Kierra. And I'm sorry for being so stubborn," I cut in. She looks up at me, smiling.
"I love you and the sound of your voice. And I have a surprise for you," she grins. I lift an eyebrow as I watch her remove her robe. Oh my God. She has on the majorette uniform she promised me. Minus the baton, those boots are hugging her calf muscles just right.
"Now, let me twirl your baton," she grins.
