Chapter 19: Sports Festival pt.3

"You have fifthteen minutes to form your teams, GO!"

Everyone around me immediately walked away to form their teams, I tried walking away but someone grabbed my wrist."y/n, be on my team. I know you're strong so you can be our defense." Bakugo looks up at me with a bland expression, I scratch my neck and look back at him."Sorry, but I was thinking about joining Todoroki's group." I pull my wrist away and walk through the crowd of students. It looked like everyone was just joining their friends, no one from different classes formed teams together. I spot Todoroki standing with Ida and Momo away from the large crowd, I push my way through saying 'sorry' as I bumped into people.

"Hey Todoroki, can I join your team?" I walk up to them and Ida's eyes widen."Yeah-" Todoroki cuts Ida off and turns to me, his eyes got even darker and colder."y/n. We can't just go around picking our teams based on favorites. You have to think about strategy and how your quirks would work together, I already have a team. Go find someone else." I stared at him in shock as he turned around and tried talking to Momo."What do you mean? Y/n would fit perfectly in our team, and we haven't found anyone else." Momo puts her hands on her hips and looks at Todoroki who just ignored her.

"It's fine, he's right, I have to start thinking smarter. My bad." I smile at Momo and Ida and turn around, my smile drops and I look around the crowd for anyone that hasn't formed a team already.

Todoroki's pov

"Todoroki, what was that? You said that we needed someone that was strong in defense. y/n's perfect for that!" Momo looked at me as I just rolled my eyes."We don't need her. Let's go ask someone else." I turn to walk away but a hand lands on my shoulder, I shove it off and turn to face Ida."Todoroki, it's very important that we don't go after whatever team y/n is on. I don't care if she's on our team or not but just make sure to leave her alone." Ida looks down at his feet and sighs."She's fine on her own, I don't have to go out of my way to help her." I turn around and spot Kaminari standing alone.

y/n's pov

Almost everyone had a team formed by now, I tried asking Bakugo if I could join him but he already had everyone. The timer showed that there were only five more minutes to form teams, I began pacing around the stage as I tried to look for anyone who didn't have a team when I finally spotted someone who would almost ensure victory. I walked towards him and stood tall."Tokoyami, be on my team?" My voice came out a little high and I mentally kicked myself in the stomach as he sighed and looked at me."Sure, I was actually hoping you'd ask me." He walks up to me and puts his hand out to shake, I take his hand and shake it firmly. "Now we just have to find-"

"Y/n! Tokoyami!" We turned our heads to see Deku and Uraraka running towards us."Be on our team?" I hesitated a little. Deku had the most points and that made him a target, but he did help me a lot in the first event. I looked over at Tokoyami who had his eyes closed and arms crossed. "Look, I know it may not sound too good but hear me out." Deku stepped closer to us and we formed a little circle."Tokoyami, you have dark shadows so we can use that as our defense. Y/n you have your energy manipulation, if we really needed it, we could use it like we did on the obstacle course. It could speed us up, and you've been working on temperatures of water. I know that Todoroki will go after us so we'll need it." Tokoyami and I look at each other again,

"Sure."

We got into position as the crowd exploded in cheers. Uraraka was on the left, I was on the right, Tokoyami stood in front and Deku was on the top. "Uraraka, Y/n, Tokoyami," Deku started, he looked down at us and gave us a determined look,"I'm counting on you all!"

"Ready...set...GO!"

All at once, about half of the teams came running our way. "Wow, they really aren't going to give us a chance, huh?" I say as Uraraka shouted out,"What are we doing Deku?" Deku pauses for a moment, he looks around the whole arena and the points to the left,"We're running!" We blasted off as Deku instructed until we began sinking into the ground."What the hell?" Tokoyami cursed under his breath and tried to lift up his feet."Not so fast!" A group of students from class B begin running our way as we continue to sink into the ground.
