chapter one
( cussing )
~~~
"Hoseokkk~! Come on, you have to go!" Jennie whined loudly, tugging on her brother's sleeve. It had now been three years since the incident. Since then, Hoseok had come nowhere near water. He was too afraid to even step onto the shoreline of the liquid substance.
Hoseok was unmoved by her actions. He remained in his spot on the couch, crossing his arms as he shook his head. "Nope, you know I don't go to the beach." Jennie huffed, "Aish you act like you have thalassophobia or some shit!"
Hoseok's mother came in, tsking at Jennie softly, "No cussing, you know the rules." She said softly. Over the years, she had grown to speak more softly, as her husband had taken the spark of joy she once had. She had sworn to him that she would never fall for another man, and she still held that promise to that day.
She looked back at Hoseok, "Baby are you sure you don't want to come with us? You haven't been anywhere near water since the incident. Don't you think it's time to try and get back on the water?"
Hoseok quickly teared up at the words 'the incident', as it was the same one that killed his father. He shook his head once more, also trying to shake the bad memories and tears away in the process. "Nope, I am staying here."
Hoseok's mother sighed, knowing there was nothing she could do. All she did was nod a little, "Alright, well if you need us, we are only one call away."
Hoseok nodded back, standing up and hugging her tightly as he sniffled. She hugged him back, of course, then left with Jennie to go to a boat party.
Hoseok sat on the couch, huffing. "How could they just... leave like that? It's like they don't care for what happened to dad..." He started rabbling to himself. He then got the idea of calling one of his best and only friends: Jeon Jungkook.
Even if Jungkook was a couple of years younger than him, the two were really good friends along with their families. The Jeon family was more like the Jung family's non blood related family then friends.
Hoseok pulled up Jungkook's contact on his phone, taking a minute to look at his contact. Recently they hadn't been able to talk much because of time zones and because they were both working on school work. He clicked the facetime button, gulping a little.
To his advantage though, Jungkook answered after a few rings. Jungkook smiled, "Hey Hoseok!" Hoseok smiled softly, relieved that the younger male answered, "Heyyyyy~"
"How's it been going?"
Hoseok shrugged, "Been boring, how about you?"
Jungkook chuckled, "About the same here. Is your family there?"
"Nope, they went boating."
"Ahhhh okay, well we are about to go as well-"
Hoseok sighed. It seemed he had no escape from the sound of someone going on any kind of ocean. No one was to blame but himself though, as it was summer time and when you live by an ocean or lake, it's was almost traditional to go.
Jungkook sighed, "still not going on the water hm?"
"Nope."
"Have you tried exposure therapy?"
Hoseok tilted his head in confusion, "What?"
Jungkook nodded, "Eomma was telling me about it a few days ago. it's therapy that basically exposes you to your fears and shows you there's no need to be afraid."
Hoseok raised an eyebrow in disbelief, "And this is suppose to help me how-?"
"Well maybe if you get use to the ocean again and not worry so much about your father's dea-"
Hoseok hung up before Jungkook could finish, throwing his phone across the room in frustration. He gripped his hair as he got more and more upset, "Why is everything about the fucking ocean?!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, tears rolling down his face as he started sobbing.
Why did everything have to be about the ocean? Was it because there is so much? Was it because it's a classic year round activity? Or was it because he was so paranoid of it that it became a daily thought for him?
