The motor revved into life as Joaquin Salvador drove his way out of the coffee place where he left a girl crying her eyes out. He doesn't have time to watch a girl cry just because he broke up with her. He had made it clear in the first place that he's not interested in committing to a relationship. He's just in it for the thrill that it offers.
He's young, so he ought to sow his wild oats while he's got the time. He felt bad though, but he shrugged it off. The girl knew it all along - that he was going to break with her once he doesn't feel going out with her anymore. It's not his fault she expected more, he thought to himself.
"Joaquin, you're back!" Cara, his twin sister welcome him. It was good to be back once in a while, he thought. After all, the house he's in is still technically his home.
"How's Dad?" With a lump on his throat, he asked. His relationship with his father has never been better ever since his father married Katherine.
"He's fine. He's in Hawaii with Katherine." Of course, that's what lured her in the very first place, Joaquin thought. The money, the luxury, the never-ending travel - that's what made her choose his father rather than him.
"I'm actually here to get some of my things. I won't be long." He said, straight to business. Cara displays a disappointing look but quickly shrugged it off.
"You know you can stay, right?" Cara wished that she could convince Joaquin to stay. She wouldn't want to be in the big house alone.
"I can, but I don't want to. I'll just get my things." Cara knows that after their father's marriage to her twin brother's greatest love, she will never convince him to stay in the house. He actually only visit whenever their father was away.
"Hey, how's that girl you're dating?" Cara asked. The face of the girl crying flashed in Joaquin's mind.
"I'm done with her."
She can't believe he broke with her. She can't believe how cold and heartless he could be. Apparently, she cannot control the tears from streaming down. After she gave everything to him, he just left her like she was nothing.
"Please, give me a chance. I didn't mean to be late. It was just I got caught up at my other job, then there's traffic -" Danielle heard a girl's plea to her boss. She suddenly remembers how just a few moments ago, that's what she's saying to Joaquin.
Just thinking of his name brings different emotions to her - mostly anger. She wants to break his heart. She wants to make him feel what she felt.
Danielle runs outside to catch up with the woman who has been fired from her job. As she heard, the woman was working three-day jobs and just lost one. So, maybe she'll agree with the idea she has.
"Miss?" Danielle called as she finally caught up with the woman.
"I'm Danielle Stevens. Can I talk to you for a second?" The woman was at first puzzled and took a step back. She thought to herself if she actually saw this woman before. Was she someone whom she was indebted to?
"I heard from the coffee shop that you got fired and would like to know if you're interested in a job?" Danielle went straight to business, one of the characteristic that got Joaquin's interest in her. An interest that quickly fades away.
The woman's face light up as soon as she heard that she could have another job. Whatever it is, she's willing to take. Anything that could help her pay her bills, and her family's debt, she's on it.
"What job?" The woman asked.
