Chapter 12

Ever feel like there is a sledge hammer just beating the shit out of your head? Congratulations, you've never had a damn hang over. Let me tell you, not fun at all. My throat is dry and head is hammering. I am so afraid to open my eyes it's not even funny.

“There's water and Advil on your nightstand, sleeping beauty!”

“Okay, Ty” I pathetically croaked. God, that water sounds good right now. I slowly sat up and gingerly opened my eyes.

Oh thank god, my room is dark. I quickly took the pills and finished off the cup of water. I sat in my room for a bit longer till the pills kicked in. Once I finally could handle the outside world, I ventured out. Slowly leaving my door I quickly overheard hushed voices in the living room.

“I don't care if you so call 'love her' you get the fuck out of my house this instant. Your behavior last night was outrageous.”

“You have no right to do this. Your sister wants me here so I'm staying.”

“Aaron, I swear to the fricken God. You tried to take advantage over here last night, DRUNK!”

When did that happen? Oh right, before my drinking.

“Yeah, I was a prick. I got that. But I'm not leaving your sister unprotec-”

“She has me! She has the BODYGUARD, you freaking hired. She has the entire Stronghold guild protecting her. She doesn't need you. Or did you forget about those? Why are you really here Aaron? Because I doubt it was because you missed her. She hasn't heard from you in years! And then suddenly you show back up because she is wanted as a weapon for the Fallen? Nick could of told her. He is her friend. But no. You ordered him to keep quiet about this till you came. Why?!”

By now Tyler's voice was getting louder and he wasn't even trying to be quiet about this argument. I'm sure Jefferson down the hall could hear him at this point.

“My reason to be here is none of your business Howl,” Aaron hissed back at him.

“It freaking is my business when it concerns my sister, Caseson.” Tyler said with the same venom. “Now leave, before I call the Strongholds to escort you out. And trust me, not even your precious army buddies up on the top ranks will save you from that.”

A few minutes of silences lapsed by, neither of them spoke. Before the door finally opened and slammed behind, I could only assume, Aaron. I didn't dare move from around the corner of the hallway. I could still sense Tyler's anger rolling off him. If I got near him now, I would only get burned. A few more moments passed and I felt his rage simmer.

“I'm cool now, you can come out of hiding. I know you heard all of that.”

Stepping away from the wall I stood in the doorway. Tyler stood against the island. Hands gripping the counter top with dear life as he held himself up, looking down at the carpet with his long bangs in his face.

“You were sick of him too?” I joked. Anything to lighten the mood right now. You could cut the tension with a knife.

          Tyler chuckled; whoo that worked!

“Yeah. He was kinda a free loader. And his actions last night against you...” I could see the counter begin to heat up but then cool before he did damage. “Crossed the line. I never liked him when we were younger. Now is no different. He has his own place to stay at. He can go there. Or back to the damn capital. That would be better.”

Tyler made no movement besides his back rising and falling with every angry breath. I walked over and behind him, wrapping my arms around his waste and hugging him tightly.

“You did the right thing bro, I was getting uncomfortable with him here anyways. I rather have Jefferson crash on the couch them him. Even Nick over Aaron.” He rattled off a chuckle that vibrated my cheek I had pressed against his back.

“He's  gone now though. It's just you and me again.”

Tyler finally stood at his full height and turned in my arms. Pulling my into his heated hug, chasing away the chills the AC was causing in my short-shorts and tank top I had on for Pj's. Which reminds me....

“You and me. How it's supposed to be.” He whispered into my hair. Kissing the top of my matted curls.

“Exactly. Now...how did I get into my Pj's?” I lifted my head and raised my brow at him. He only chuckled.

“I changed you. Relax. After you passed out at the club, I took off from work and took you home. By the way, you own me half a nights pay in  the bribes I would of gotten.” Tyler flicked the tip of my nose causing me to giggle.

“Eh, to bad my payments come in hugs!” I said and hugged him tighter.

“God dammit. I forgot about that.” He laughed and messed up my already rat's nest hair. “By the way, you need to get ready. Jefferson wants you to accompany him to the gym today. You're gonna start training. I don't agree, but it's necessary at this point.”

My jaw dropped. I get to train? I get to train! Wait, no wait!

“But I have a hang over!!” I whined. Tyler let go of me laughing and proceeded to walk back to his room.

“Should of thought about that before you got drunk and pass out after kissing people.”

          “I did not kiss anyone!”

“Talk to Jeffery about that, not me!” And with that, he ducked back into his room. Leaving me confused and irritated.
