For those of you reading my book "Flowers and Swords" you'll find this scene to be a little familiar...
I was sitting in the Gryffindor common room reading a truly enchanting story. It was a muggle fictional book series with the name of Narnia. And I was charmed more by the character Edmund Pevensie than I was by the story itself.
I heard a ruckus at the common room entrance. I heard Fred and George as they walked in. Of course...they had probably just finished a prank. They high-fived their way through the crowd, coming over to where I was sitting. I didn't take my eyes off the page, too involved in the story, but I felt Fred sit across from me on a different couch as I felt George sit beside me.
"Hello, love." He said as he pecked my cheek.
"Mhm." I mumbled. I was at the part where Edmund and the crew of the Dawn Treader were fighting a sea serpent. George huffed. I felt him squiggle his way into laying his head in my lap.
"Someone wants attention." Fred mumbled. I ran my hand aimlessly through George's hair, letting him know that I was aware of his existence.
"Darling?" George asked.
"Hmm?" I answered.
"Are you free this Saturday?" He asked. I put my book down finally looking down at George.
"This Saturday? I should be...why?" I asked.
"You'll see." He said, smiling mischievously.
"But you won't." Fred added, directing his statement at George. Both George and I were confused.
"Elaborate dear brother." George said. Fred crossed his arms.
"We have detention with Snape remember? After making Malfoy's hair hot pink for that week, we got detention on Saturday for a whole month." Fred explained.
"You did what?" My eyes widened at George. Fred chuckled.
"Don't blame him, it was all my idea." Fred confessed.
"You should be glad Malfoy didn't kill you on the spot." I remarked.
"Oh please, that bleach-haired ferret boy is all style no substance." George huffed.
"Wait until my father hears about this! Training for the ballet Pottah? It's killed meh! It's killed meh!" Fred imitated him which led us all to a fit of laughter.
"Okay okay, how about Sunday then?" George asked.
"Yes, I'm free Sunday." I replied, to which he smiled, falling asleep on my lap
---
I woke up Sunday morning like I usually do. Hermione and I headed to breakfast where I noticed my favorite twin missing in action. "Where's George?" I asked Fred. He shrugged.
"He said something about you, a tent, and the Forbidden Forrest, then he rushed off to go find lights." Fred said, piling food onto his plate. I was confused but I knew better than to question a Weasley too much, it usually led to more confusion.
I spent the day finishing homework in anticipation to whatever George had planned. After finishing my time in the library, I went to the common room, hoping to find George.
Gladly, I found him there. "Are you ready?" He asked, smiling broadly.
"Uh...I think so? Ready for what exactly?" I asked.
"You'll see..." He said, pulling out a piece of fabric.
"Is that a blindfold?" I said, pointing to the fabric. He nodded guiltily. I sighed, allowing him to put it on. I put my hands out to gain balance. He gripped my waist and pulled me close to him.
"I got you don't worry." He whispered in my ear. We made our way out of the common room and walked through the halls. I was completely sure that people were probably looking at us weird, but as long as I was with George...I was fine.
The air around me became cooler and I felt the Sun's rays as I realized we walked outside. By the rustle of leaves beneath our feet, we were walking into the forrest. I hesitated.
"The Forbidden Forrest?" I asked. I felt a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"Hey, I promise I'll keep you safe." George whispered back. I nodded my head and we continued on. A bit later, as the trees got thicker, so did the roots on the ground. Walking, even with eyesight, was hard enough but blindfolded was 10 times harder than that. Whenever I stumbled, George was there to tighten his grip and support me. But at one point it was too hard.
"Are you up for a piggy-back ride?" He asked. I could imagine his smile as he asked me. I nodded. He positioned me and I hopped on. He bounded off further into the forrest.
At last, he stopped walking. He put me down and positioned me to face a certain way. "Okay, you can open your eyes.... now."
I took off the blindfold and looked ahead as my eyes adjusted. I gasped as I took in my surroundings. We were in a clearing with a huge tree in the middle. Golden lights were strung from the tree's branches, illuminating the whole place in an ethereal golden glow. Near the tree there was a small tent set up as well as a blanket set up beside it.
Kind of what it looks like...
I looked back to George. "Is this what you were planning?" I asked. He opened his arms.
"Surprise!" He exclaimed. I walked to him and we shared a sweet kiss.
"Thank you." I told him, hugging him so my voice muffled in his chest.
"Anything for you, darling." He mumbled. We broke apart and he led me to the blanket. He opened the basket and started pulling out foods. They were good old muggle foods, a sandwich and some juice. He even brought a small cake.
As we finished up our food, George waved his wand and it disappeared.
For some time, we sat, hand in hand, my head on his shoulder, admiring the lights. After it got dark, he led me inside the tent. He muttered a spell at the tent and instantly the tent became transparent. The lights dimmed as the stars glowed in the sky. He shifted closer, wrapping me in his warm embrace.
"Aren't the stars the most beautiful thing you've seen?" I whispered, taking in the breath-taking view above me.
"Second most beautiful." George said, looking down at me. I blushed, scooting closer to him to hide my face. He chuckled.
"We've been dating for years now and you still fall for my cheesy pickup lines." He said.
"George Weasley, I fall deeper in love with you every day, and that's the way it's going to be forever."
"Y/N Y/L/N, if you give me forever, I'll give you eternity." He responded.
So,with the stars above me, the golden light surrounding me, and George by myside, I felt a warm feeling inside of me as I fell asleep.
