"For a date?" I asked confusingly, but still smiling at him. Inside I was freaking out. I had these butterflies moving around everywhere in my body, causing me to fill up with a feeling of ecstasy. His brown eyes were really focused on mine and it looked like they were sparkling from the daylight.
"Yes you know, it's usually a guy that asks a girl out then they go on a picnic or eat at a restaurant or something like that. Have you never heard of it?" His cute, sarcastic comment made us both crack up and I got to, for the first time in my life, see his beautiful smile. It covered so much of his face and his skin got so wrinkled by his eyes that I thought he was transforming into an old man. Not in a bad way.
"Well I know what a date is, I just don't get why you'd take me out?" I had been standing on the little stone path that was laid to lead any guests to our front door, but apparently I had been small-walking because I had reached to Calum. To avoid any more embarrassment I sat down next to him. I just needed to inhale once to smell his natural musk. He wasn't wearing any perfume, it was just the way he smelled. He smelled incredible.
"You're friends with Michael right?" Calum asked. He had turned so he was leaning his back against the handle you were to use when walking up the stair and he had his legs pulled up to his torso. He was wearing black jeans together with the t-shirt and I started to think about why he didn't have a girlfriend. I thought about asking him why, but from my experience from boys that would probably be a bad idea.
"I am." I answered.
"So I told him that I had caught an eye for you these past weeks and he immediately told me to go ask you out. And he said all this like minutes ago because I came here straight from his house so he's probably waiting for an answer soon." He broke our gazes apart and started touching one of the holes his pants had.
"Sounds just like him" I said, for the second time today laughing at Michael without him being there. "And I would enjoy going out with you yes. Saturday maybe? I don't think I have any homework and there's no school so if we..."
"Today" Calum interrupted. I went from looking at his hands back up to his face. He had a huge, bright, million dollar smile across his entire face. I considered the pros and cons with going out with him today but I soon realized that there weren't any cons with it.
"That will do" I said as I got up. "But I won't go looking like this, can I change first?" I waited for his approval to change my clothes and when he gave me a little nod I walked into my house. "You can come in!" I yelled. I walked straight up our wooden stairs and reached my room immediately. I heard Calum entering my home down stairs and I felt kind of sorry for leaving him like that. It would've been way worse if mom and dad would've been home. I took a quick glance in the mirror, looking if I needed to touch up my makeup or not. I sure had to. I couldn't hear Calum moving anymore, but I thought that the quicker I'd do this the quicker he'd get out of the embarrassing situation. I washed away all my previous makeup and quickly put on a new layer of just the exact same. When I had done that I went into my little closet, but that was when I hit problems. I quickly walked over to the stairs.
"Calum, where are we going?" I yelled, hoping that he'd hear me. I heard him let out a little groan before he answered.
"I don't want to tell you, just dress as you feel comfortable." I turned around, walked over to my closet and pulled out a plain beige dress that reached just above my knees and didn't show that much cleavage at all. I combed my hair and then went down. I found Calum laid out on the couch with his feet on it.
"Make yourself at home" I said with a little laugh. As soon as he noticed my presence he sat up with reddened cheeks.
"I'm so sorry" he said, brushing off the couch with his hands. He hadn't looked at me yet, and even though I didn't expect any kind of "walking-down-the-stairs-like-in-a-movie" reaction I did want him to say something when he saw me. When I noticed that he avoid looking up at me by looking at the couch I simply turned around to go into the kitchen. I grabbed a see-through glass and filled it with water and took it all down. I felt drops of sweat form on my forehead, but I don't know why. Maybe because I was nervous about the date or because I was getting sick. I placed the glass next to the sink and turned around, only to see that Calum stood there, leaning against the door frame.
