Recap:
Weiwei has decided to follow her mother's wishes and continue her education in Beijing.(Also, I will be using a few mandarin phrases but I'll write the translation in a bracket beside it)

"Weiwei, I have a surprise for you."
" Dad, was eighteen years of my life, not enough for you to know that I hate surprises? "
"You'll love this one. I am being promoted! The board has promoted me to director of R&D in the Shanghai branch."
" For a change, that's actually great. "
" Now, tell me about your HSK, you're gonna need it to get admission to Qing University. "
" Ummm..... you know that I have cleared level B2 and I am preparing for level C1. But it's difficult, those language apps are not very helpful now."
" Hmm... how about I tutor you in my free time? "
" Do you have time? You will be quite busy with the new branch and all."
" We'll see to it. Now go and pack your stuff. Remember that we're leaving in three days."
"I remember, dad."

The three days passed by in a flash, and soon it was time to leave for Beijing.
"I'm gonna miss California."
" Me too, sweetie. But hey, you get to visit grandpa every vacation. "
" Guess it does have its pros and cons."
"Come on, stop whining. Come, I'll drop you at the airport, call as soon as you are done with the security check. Understood? And don't care about the time difference once you land in Wuhan. You will call me at once."
"Yes Sir!" Weiwei said with mock enthusiasm.

The 24-hour flight was unsurprisingly tiring. On the bright side, Weiwei didn't sleep more than what was required. So the jet lag didn't affect her that much. Her uncle was coming to pick her up from the airport.
"Uncle Chen, it is so good to see you!"
"You too, shortie."
"I am not that short anymore!"
"Alright, alright. Now come on, everyone's waiting for us. Aunt Chen made your favorite Red bean and sticky rice pudding."
"I can't wait to get home."

As her uncle drove the car to their house, Weiwei sat glued to the window, entranced by the sights of the buildings in Shanghai. The place held an air of familiarity around it. Suddenly, the car pulled to a stop in front of a tall, corporate-looking building.
"Weiwei, come here. You'll want to see this."
"Is it the new office?"
"Smart girl. Your dad wanted me to show you the office. So, you wanna tour it now or later?"
"I want to see it now but, I think we both know what Aunt Feifei will do to us if show up covered in dust and an hour late."
" 是的. 那我们走吧.(Right, let's go.)
*-*-*
"What were you two doing? You are half an hour late. quickly go and clean up and come for dinner."
Weiwei thoroughly enjoyed her rice pudding. Though her father was a great cook himself, even he did not make it this good. Weiwei was a foodie through and through, and the best part - she just didn't gain any weight. No weight gain at all. I am so jealous of her.
"Weiwei, when are you going to apply for admission at the university? "
"Day after tomorrow. Will you accompany me?"
"Of course I will. "
"Ok."
"Now, go to sleep. I am surprised how you are even awake right now with all that jet lag."
"I don't need much sleep."
"Yes, you do. Now go to bed quickly."

I think that this book is more successful than any of my other books and they have been up for months. Anyway, now that I have planned how Xiao Nai will fall for her in this scenario, writing this story shouldn't be too difficult. I have also thought of quite a few subplots and how to entwine them with the main story. So, the next chapter will hopefully be up in a week.
