Declan

Declan had people coming to meet him in the Parking Lot, Afterschool several times. They'd come, they'd suffer a few injuries and then they'd leave with a newly learned lesson of never messing with him.

But this, this was different.

This wasn't a Parking Lot, it was just a random ground near the school. And this time, Declan was the one who was scared as he waited for Raymond to arrive.

Normally, he'd be mad at having to wait, but right now he was just grateful as Raymond's tardiness gave him more time to think it out, to plan it out.

What the hell are you doing, he asked himself, asking him to meet you like this?

Raymond

Raymond wiped his sweaty palms on his jeans.

He'd never been more nervous. He peeked from around the corner once again, seeing Declan pacing.

The sunlight was shining on his face, illuminating his sharp cheekbones and his straight nose.

Raymond felt his knees go weak as Declan bit his lip and looked around once more. Declan's brown hair looked golden in the light, the light making his eyes shine like topazes.

Declan

Declan looked around once more and started to leave but stopped when he saw Raymond come out of the dark and into the light.

Declan was struck by Raymond's appearance as if Adonis himself was in front of him. No, Raymond was better than Adonis.

Raymond was all Declan's heart desired. Raymond's was all he could think about day and night.

Guardedly, Declan took a few steps closer. Raymond did the same, his heart shaking in excitement and trepidation.

There were only a few steps away from each other now. Stepping closer and closer, Declan and Raymond were only a few inches away from each other. Neither said a word.

They both wanted to make the first move, but at the same time wanted the other to do it, so they wouldn't seem dominating.

Fear does that to people, makes them overthink the smallest of actions, the most insignificant of moments.

Finally, Declan decided to go first.

"Thanks for coming." He said, the words shaky as they left his mouth. He had never felt the atmosphere be so turbulent, so unsure.

The pair's eyes locked onto each other, chocolate and almond.

Suddenly, it was as if the earth had stopped spinning, the waves stopped blowing. It all came to a standstill, and all that mattered were the two people standing on the ground, meant to be enemies but hiding something deeper in their hearts. Something beautiful, but forbidden.

Raymond

Raymond's mind went blank as Declan's scent wrapped itself around him. He smelled like a new morning, a fresh start after a bad day, a refreshing breeze on a hot summer day.

Raymond nervously chuckled trying to break the tension, "So why'd you ask to meet me?"

Raymond wanted to say Declan's name but that felt like crossing a line. Saying his name would make everything more real and Raymond wasn't ready for reality yet.

He waited for Declan to answer, but his eyes were unfocused, staring at something on Raymond's face.

Raymond was never really an insecure person but at the moment with Declan staring at him so closely he wanted to whip out his phone and check his face to see if something was wrong.

Raymond cleared his throat again, and Declan seemed stunned as if he just woke up from a daydream. His dark brown eyes met Raymond's almond ones and again both of their breaths caught.

Declan

Did Raymond ask a question? He couldn't remember.

All he could think about right now was how Declan was staring at his lips and how much Raymond wanted Declan to kiss him, right then and there, no words needed.

Declan took one more step closer, leaving only a hair's breadth between their faces.

Raymond

Raymond stopped breathing, his eyes slowly closing as Declan leaned in...

*Hazel in commentator voice*: "But life isn't that easy, folks."

At that very moment, Declan felt someone call him. Raymond sprang away, like a cat with its tail on fire as a voice called out "Declan, let's go!"

They both sighed, disappointed, even though neither of them knew what they were really disappointed about, or what might have happened if Jordan hadn't called Declan right in that moment.

Jordan, Declan now thought, he'd never talk to me again if he found out about this.

Declan valued Jordan greatly, even though he'd never tell the blonde that.

So it was only fair that he panicked to leave without being seen with Raymond, and ran away. Once again.

Declan felt a sinking feeling as he ran. It felt as if he'd left his heart back there, with Raymond.

Jogging the last few steps, Declan tried to calm his beating heart. He couldn't tell this to anyone, not Jordan, Bennett and never Naomi. He couldn't bear to see the hurt betrayed look on Naomi's face if this got out.

This.

What was 'this'?

There was nothing happening between him and Raymond. Nope, nothing at all...

I didn't know you called an almost-kiss nothing...

He ignored his inner voice and came to a stop near Bent's car. He barely glanced at his friends as he climbed into the car, consumed by guilt.

He couldn't keep doing this and yet he didn't want to stop.

No, he didn't want to stop seeing Raymond at all. In fact, even though he'd just left Raymond a few minutes ago, he wanted nothing more to go back and finish... whatever that was happening...

He was so into his thoughts, he didn't hear Naomi calling him. He looked up, trying to clear any guilt from his face.

"Declan, hellooo? I was asking where you were?"

"Uh, I was just bored and I thought I heard something so I went and checked it out." He winced inwardly, he didn't like lying to his friends, especially Naomi.

"Was there anything there?" Naomi asked him, from the front seat.

Declan shook his head vehemently, "Nope. it was nothing."

*Dia in commentator voice*: "Yeah, right."
