Asami smiled as she sat opposite Tenten. She wanted to say hello to Tenten while she was in the village, Lee wasn't her only friend from team two. Asami didn't know a lot of people in the leaf village, but she was quite close to Lee's team with the exception of Neji. She didn't dislike Neji and she also didn't think he disliked her but they weren't particularly close. They were simply just acquaintances.
Asami thought it would be nice to surprise Tenten at her apartment and have some tea to catch up, however, what she didn't expect was Neji hovering over Tenten like an overprotective bear. When Tenten let Asami in, it looked like Neji was ready to punch her but she wasn't sure what she did to incur Neji's wrath. Tenten told Asami to ignore him but it didn't make the situation less awkward. Asami frowned at Neji as she took a sip of her tea while Tenten sighed heavily. Neji didn't seem to mind the awkward atmosphere as he stood behind Tenten protectively while looking out the kitchen window. He looked casual but Asami saw the alertness in his eyes.
"I'm not intruding, am I? I didn't know Neji was already here." Asami said awkwardly as she shifted her eyes from Neji to Tenten.
It was still morning so she didn't expect Tenten to have any company. She asked Lee when Tenten had a day off and luckily for her, it happened to have been today. Asami knew Tenten and Neji was close but she thought Neji would rather be out training or doing Neji stuff around this time in the morning. Asami could be wrong but it kind of seemed like Neji spent the night. It made her wonder if they were now a couple.
"Not at all, don't mind Neji, it's been a weird week in Konoha." Tenten chuckled awkwardly as she waved Asami's question off.
"Oh yeah, I've heard about the scroll from Lee. I didn't know something like that even existed." Asami mused which made both Tenten and Neji look at her curiously.
She's been around Lee...
Tenten knew Lee has had a crush on Sakura since they were kids but when Asami was around he always seems to forget about it. It made Tenten wonder if Lee actually had feelings for Asami rather than Sakura. Asami being in the village can change everything...
"Neither did I, but here we are. When did you arrive in the village?" Tenten asked curiously, she wondered how Lee acted around her.
The boys might be back to their original personalities but they've now moved on to another weird stage. From what Tenten have gathered they have become unbelievably clingy, hence why she hasn't been able to get rid of Neji since yesterday.
"I arrived yesterday, I saw Lee yesterday after I arrived so we went to get lunch." Asami answered as she sipped her tea.
"I haven't seen Lee around that much since the third stage started; I'm assuming he's been busy irritating Sakura." Tenten prompted, trying to get Asami to tell her how Lee behaved around her.
"That could be the case, he mentioned her briefly when we had lunch but he didn't dwell on the topic much." Asami said as she chuckled.
"That's interesting, I thought he'd definitely only be talking about Sakura, well Sakura or training." Tenten mused.
"You got the latter right, I'm only supposed to pick a few supplies up for my family but Lee convinced me to have a sparring match this afternoon." Asami sighed, she liked staying in the leaf village but she had to return to her family with the supplies.
"Oh, does that mean you're leaving soon?" Tenten asked slightly disappointed, she was curious to see if Lee's infatuation will shift from Sakura to Asami.
She wasn't sure how the scroll worked that Kakashi opened but maybe there was a possibility that Lee would start paying Asami more attention. If that happens then there will definitely be fewer fights between Sasuke and Lee.
