 "Do I look ok?"

 I was standing in my full length mirror looking at my outfit. My brother, Owen, was sitting on the bed and eating. He nodded "Yup! You look great!" He smiled. I could feel myself sweating. I wasn't even with him yet but my face was blushing. 

I sighed and lay on the bed "I'm nervous Owen... Neil's basically a popular kid and I'm just some guy who spends time with him..."

 Owen tried pulling me up but fell down, so I got up myself. He then looked at me "You two are best best best friends! He probably just acts like a snob and stuff around you so that nobody thinks he's weird! But he probably likes you alot!" He smiled as he said it. Normally Owen always cheers me up, but I was still worried. "Yeah but what if he calls me names? What if he tells everyone that I liked him... I'll be a laughing stock." My hand was shaking a little as I said it.

 Owen looked me straight in the eye "Neil's not that kind of person! Besides, who wouldn't like you?" I smiled slightly at this. He then handed me a rose "Give him this! Roses are really poetic!" I took it and then stood up and looked in the mirror again "You're right bud, I can do this!"

I can't do this

I was waiting for Neil on the park bench. The rose was in my hand behind my back but my other hand was shaking. 

I looked at the clock in the square.

Still isn't here...

Maybe he wasn't gonna show up? I sighed. But then I saw him entering the park. He was wearing the shirt I bought him... 

Odd... I've never seen him where it till now... God he looks hot...

I could feel my face going red. I quickly stood up as he approached me. "Whatever is so important that we must meet in this park so late?" He asked me. I gave a nervous chuckle "uh... Good question... U-Um..."

 "Is that a rose?" He muttered, his eyes widening. I quickly nodded "Y-Yeah... It's um actually for you." I shoved it towards him without thinking. He gave a small smile and took it. We stood there awkwardly for a few more minutes. 

What do I do what do I do what do I do-

 "I'm guessing you wanted to discuss your non-platonic feelings for me?" Neil said suddenly. I heard myself give a small gasp "H-How did you know?!" Neil looked to the side "You have been acting rather strangely around me. And I never exactly saw you as the hetero type..."

I couldn't tell if things were going amazingly or horribly

Neil then looked at me "Well, I'll give you an answer. I would be happy to be in a relationship... It can't be too different from a friendship, right? And if I were to be seen doing romantic things with any male, I would prefer it to be you." I saw him blush. I felt myself smiling. I threw myself onto him and he hugged back. He smiled and we stayed hugging for a while. When we eventually let go of eachother, Neil put out his hand "Care for a midnight stroll?" He asked. I nodded and grabbed his hand. 

We took a long stroll through the park, laughing and talking. The rose was still in his hand once the walk ended. 

He walked home with me and just before we left, he put the rose into my hair "It looks better kn you than it does on me." He gave me a small kiss on the cheek. I saw his face go red which made me smile. 

I stayed calm as I walked back into the house, then practically squealed once I was alone in my room. 

I looked at the rose, smiled and went to bed
