Duchess Rosemary

I slept in late to make up for staying up all night and when I wandered around I realized no one was home.

I grabbed a cloke and started off towards town. When I got close I slipped my hood over my head as it began to rain again.

The village this morning was quiet not like the usual bustling, I guessed it had to do with the weather.

I wandered in and out of stores for a bit and then went to the bar.

"Asteria! It's early to be drinking what brings you in here?" A smooth accented voice says as I slip in the door.
"Just looking for people. I thought you'd be here Tital" I said sitting on a bar stool beside him.
"I guess so" he says taking a sip out of his glass.
"If it's too early for drinking why are you?" I ask grabbing the glass and taking a sip myself.
Ugh whatever it was was disgusting.
"You know me gotta numb the day and drinking is the best way to do that" he says eyeing me and taking his drink back, "where's Enzo?" He asks
"I'm not sure no one was home today" I replied
"Huh" he said

I met Tital a while back when I was 16. I found myself in this very bar drinking away my thoughts. When I was still upset about my mother. He was upset too and we spent the night drinking together until the owner kicked us out. The rest of the night I don't remember but we somehow ended up in another bar sleeping on a couch. We've been friends since. Although my drinking problem went away his still didn't. To this day I don't know why he's still grieving all he would tell me is he's had a lot of loss and doesn't want to get into it. So I respect that.

"Did you hear about Rosemary" he said
"What about her" I asked

Rosemary Milay. The princes girlfriend. Her and the prince met a few months ago.

"She's moved into the castle now, it's getting serious between her and the prince" he says
"Really?! They met like 4 months ago!" I exclaim
"I know. I don't like her either..." he trials off.
"That just seems so fast" I say

Rosemary is the cousin to the royal family of a neighbouring kingdom. Thats how her and Silas met. The royal family were away visiting the kingdoms. Tessani the princes sister and one of my best friends. Told me how they couldn't stop flirting and then the next day she found them sleeping in Rosemarys room.

Since then she's been visiting and has officially become his girlfriend. I don't like her and neither does Tital, she's had everything handed to her and yet still acts like it's not enough. I swear she hasn't worked a day in her life.

"Oh but good news Tessani has invited us to her welcoming ceremony. I'd rather not welcome her but we are invited and should go" he said
"Great we have to see the brat again" I sneer and Tital punches my arm.
"You can't go around talking like that" he says eyes wide, "you could get in trouble".
"Who's gonna hear the place is empty" I say scanning the bar. It was just Tital and I.

"Whatever" I say and smirk, "she is and you can't deny it"

Asteria has always spoken her mind without question. I know it's going to get her in trouble one day so I've been trying to stop her. But she really doesn't listen. She's been through so much shit it's sad to think she can still stay this positive. Although I have seen her at her worst.

When we met she was looking for something to help with the pain from the loss of her family and ended up drunk here. I remember chatting with her and taking a few shots. Her little body couldn't handle that much alcohol and she got drunk immediately. I really didn't know who she was but I wanted to keep her safe. She doesn't remember but I stayed as sober as I could so I could make sure she was safe. I'm sure she thought I was just as drunk as her. But I remembered everything.

A fight broke out and the owner of the bar quickly ushered us out knowing we were young and didn't need to get involved. We ended up in another bar that was empty though. I wasn't sure where to go considering I had just met her so I went there. I found a couch and had layed her down on it and she talked about her life while I listened and then soon she fell asleep.

And that was how we met although I'm sure she remembers it differently. I was then introduced to her friends and we have all stuck together for the longest time.

They all know Asteria doesn't have her family anymore but no one really knows the details. Even drunk she wouldn't tell me anything.

I know to this day she's still upset but she chooses not to show it. She puts on a bright face everyday and hides the darkness deep inside not letting even a sliver be shown. But I know someday it will show. Asteria is more then what we think. I've seen her fight during training she's relentless. She looks so innocent but tell her to fight and she'll win. In fact I've never seen her loose she even puts the prince on the ground.

He hates that she can. But it's mutual they've both hated each other since they met. Although there was one time though when we were all walking and a man grabbed Asterias arm and immediately Silas pushed him off knowing perfectly well she can defend herself. But I saw it in his face he was genuinely scared for her. For the rest of the walk they just yelled at each other like always. I'm sure I'm the only one who notices but I've definitely seen him be worried for her. Even though they hate each other.
