"(y/n), I can't believe you got into U.A!!" Niyomi shouts, wrapping her arms around you tightly.

"Can't--breathe--," you choke out.

"Oh, sorry," she says, releasing you slightly, "I'm just so proud of you! I can't believe I can tell people that my daughter made it into U.A.!"

Your face turns red in embarrassment, thinking about how many people she is going to tell that you got into U.A. It was hard, but it was well worth it, for you now get to go to one of the best hero schools in Japan.

After your father killed your mother, you met Niyomi, a sweet, caring woman who took you in with open arms. Not being able to have any kids of her own, she gladly took you under her wing, guiding you like her own child. You have lived here ever since, and she was the only person who knew exactly what happened. Niyomi was going to report it to the police, but she decided against it, in fear that your father would find you and kill you.

Your quirk was called "Burning Gaze", and you developed it right after you met Niyomi. Your quirk lets you increase the temperature of anything you look at, including people. There was no limit on how much you could increase the temperature of objects, and you could instantly return the temperature of the object back to normal, but there were drawbacks, just like every quirk. The quirk deactivates when you blink, and you have to be looking exactly at the object you want to increase the temperature of. For example, if someone was hiding behind a building, you wouldn't be able to use your quirk, even though you know where they were at. Another drawback is that when you use your quirk, it also increases the temperature of your eyes. This is why your eyes are frequently itchy and dry.

You can also have infrared vision, meaning you can see people's body temperatures when activated.

"Niyomi, I have to go," you say, trying to pull away from her.

"I'm going to miss you so much!" she says.

"I know, I know," you say, "I'm going to miss you too. But seriously, if I don't leave now, I'm going to be late for my first day."

"Okay, but make sure you have all your stuff with you, okay. And don't be afraid to come visit me once in a while, I'll get lonely when no one is here," Niyomi says, wiping her eyes.

"I'm not going to be that far; I'll make sure to come visit, okay?"

"Okay," she says, shoving you towards the door, "but you might want to leave now, you don't want to be late, do you?"

You roll your eyes at her sarcasm, walking out the door.

"Wait!" she calls after you, holding a small object.

"Hm?"

"Here, you might want to have this in your pocket, just in case," she says, putting a bottle of eye drops in your hands.

"Thanks," you say and smile at her, taking one more good look at her face.

You turn and walk towards the train station, carrying your two bags of clothes and other things you would need for living in the dorms at U.A.

I wonder what U.A. is going to be like, you think, are the people going to be nice? I'm sure they will be.

You get to the train station, thoughts of U.A. filling your head. You were so out of it that you didn't even notice you were walking straight into someone until you did.

"Sorry!" you quickly apologist, looking up at the person you bumped into.

Whoa.

He had short, ash-blond hair that stuck up all over the place. His crimson eyes were narrowed at you, looking straight into yours. He was wearing a U.A. uniform, but he wasn't wearing a tie.
