*Ruby's POV*

"Are you on yet? Hurry! He starte- Ohmygod." Stella stopped midsentence. "JOSHJUSTCAMEONANDNOWTHEYRERAPPINGFRESHPRINCEOFBELAIR!" my best friend Stella screamed through the speaker.

"Stella. Calm down." I sighed into the phone. Stella just kept shrieking hysterically, so I hung up. Stella Dalton had been my best friend and fellow Directioner ever since we met in English class in 9th grade. And since then, we were inseparable. If we weren't at the local diner gossiping about One Direction, then we were at our apartment, watching How I Met Your Mother, shoving spoonfuls of pudding in our mouths, and still obsessing over One Direction.

My phone started blaring Kiss You, Stella's signature ringtone. I picked up, making sure to hold the phone a foot away from my sensitive ears.

"Are you on Twitter yet?" she whispered. Stella was probably at a college lecture, which was the only time when she bothered to whisper.

"No, why?" I whispered back, mocking her.

She muttered something something about me being oblivious. "Ruby, honestly. Niall and Josh are doing a freaking twitcam. Right now. Okay, I have to go before the professor sees me. Bye!" she chirped and hung up.

My eyes flickered back and forth to the keyboard as I hastily logged into Twitter. I didn't even bother to look at my newsfeed, and went straight to the search box and typed in Niall Horan. Within seconds I was on the couch, wrapped up in my James Bond blanket and grinning from ear to ear as Niall and One Direction's insanely hot drummer, Josh Devine,  finished talking about their gig at Madison Square Garden.

"Okay, we're gonna do a Q&A now, so tweet us your questions." Josh smiled, revealing his pearly whites. I took a swig of my Red Bull and began tweet-raping the boys. After 5 minutes of nonstop typing, and no shoutouts, I stopped.

They'd never notice me.

But I still tweeted one last thing to Niall, just for fun.

@RubyMacCarthy007: @NiallOfficial I think we should get married. Love, Ruby.

I was just about to log off when I heard an Irish voice say the most beautiful and unlikely  thing  I'd ever heard.

"@RubyMacCarthy007, are you Irish? Your surname is, isn't it? Anyways, @RubyMacCarthy007 says 'I think we should get married.'" Niall chuckled.

And then, Josh, the genius piped up. "Well? Propose to her, mate!" he yelled.

I swear, Niall looked like he wanted to choke Josh. Meanwhile, I was glued to the couch, unable to move. Oh my god. I squeezed my eyes shut and waited for him to laugh it off and move on to another tweet. But that didn't happen.

*Niall's POV*

I felt weird reading the stranger's tweet. I always felt weird when people I didn't even know said they loved me and wanted to marry me. I guess I still hadn't gotten used to having girls from all over the world say "I love you" to me. Plus the fact that I'd never told a girl that I loved her, but no one knew that, not even Josh. So when he kept nagging me to propose to some girl named Ruby MacCarthy, I decided that this was it. I'd say it.

"So, erm, Ruby MacCarthy, I love you. Will you marry me?" I managed to squeak out. Josh looked shocked, and then he clapped me on the back, congratulated me and quickly ended the Twitcam session, promising the girls that we would be back soon.

As soon as he logged off,  he spun around to face me. "Mate, that was awful." he chuckled. "You looked like you wanted to die when you saw that tweet." he laughed, but stopped when he saw that I wasn’t laughing. "What's up?" he asked, turning serious. I sighed and figured that I might as well tell Josh.

"I've never told a girl that I love her, and I don’t know, I didn't know how to, and so I froze up." I said, embarrassed. He just grinned and looked amused.

"Don’t worry! It's not like you're ever gonna see the girl in real life. It doesn’t matter!" he laughed. And I laughed along, not knowing that that was the opposite of what was going to happen.
