And now people talk to me I'm slipping out of reach now
People talk to me, and all their faces blur
But I got my fingers laced together and I made a little prison.

"Fred!" I called out in panic. "Fred! Where are you?" I tried flying to the ground and jumped off the broom onto the cobblestone. The world turned a dim shade of green and I spun around to look for my class, but no-one was near. "Fre-" I began but the air felt like it was sucked from my lungs.

I grasped at my throat, it felt like it was on fire. I clawed at my neck and tried to yell for help but my voice was caught in my throat. The wind picked up speed, hitting my front and knocking me over, I felt like I was falling until I landed on a freezing surface. I rolled onto my side, coughing from impact. The sky seemed to be getting darker and I couldn't see much of anything.

I tried to stand up only to feel myself falling again, this time I landed and was immersed in water. I tried to swim to the top but my arms felt too heavy. I started sinking and I was overcome by a strange feeling of calmness. I opened my eyes and looked up to the surface, it had frozen over in the time that I was trapped under it. My eyes were burning and my chest felt like it was going to explode. I shut my eyes and gave in. I accepted death, that is, until I heard a muffled crash above me. I didn't bother opening my eyes but I had to keep fighting to stop sinking.

I heard another crash and the ice above me was gone, the sun shone through, it was bright again. I closed my eyes again, it was too painful to keep them open. I felt myself slipping in and out of consciousness. I couldn't move or open my eyes, but I felt something slither around my waist and something was pressed against the front of me. I felt movement until I heard a splash and voices.

"Is she okay?"

"Oh my god."

"Is she alive?"

"She's blue."

I heard various exclamations and didn't recognize any of the people until I heard him.

"Get out of my way!" I heard heavy footsteps, uneven, like he was having trouble walking. "Wha- how did this happen?" Fred demanded.

"I don't know! I-" Malfoy said, his voice scared.

"Put her down! Is she breathing?" Fred asked, I felt someone's hand on my stomach and I could smell Fred's shampoo. Lime, his shampoo smelled like lime, so I concentrated on the scent instead of the confusion I felt as he was listening for a heartbeat.

"Is she alive?" Malfoy asked, he sounded like he was going to cry.

"Yes, she's alive." I felt someone try to pick me up, I groaned as a shooting pain went up my leg. He set me down gently, and tried picking me up a different way. He carried me bridal-style but was very careful not to move me too quickly.

"We have to get her to Madam Pomfrey." Malfoy said.

"You go ahead of us and get the doors." Fred instructed.

"I'm going to get George," Ron said. "He should know about this too. I heard him run off. Fred began walking at a quick pace but smoothly so he wouldn't shake me too much.

"I've got you, my love," He whispered. "Just stay with me please," He kissed my forehead. "There's still something I've been meaning to tell you and I think you'll like it so just... please stay."

I didn't even know how badly I was injured. I've heard of shock and adrenaline stopping people from feeling the extent of their injuries but I felt no shock or adrenaline; I just felt sleepy, overwhelmingly sleepy. My muscles loosened and my body went limp, I felt detached from it, like I was watching the scene from outside my body. Fred was carrying my soaking, bloody body with tears in his eyes and Malfoy was holding every door open for him in a panic. Watching the scene from outside my body didn't last long because I went unconscious.
