A Day in the Life

Stress and Party

School is still sucking, but the one good thing for me in school is that I get good grades. Today is report card day. You could feel the dread in the air, but for me I was kind of excited. I walked up to my teacher to get my report card.

"Christine I don't seem to have your report card. I'm sorry. You can go talk to the office."

What??? Why is my report card the only one missing??? I walked out of the classroom and was bombarded with people asking me, "what did you get?"

"I didn't get one..."

"Oh, That means your parents didn't pay tuition. that happened to me a lot eighth grade year", said Rebecca. We were getting along again.

As soon as school was over I went to my car and got in my dad smiled at me,

"How was school?"

"Guess what we got today." I said

"What?"

"Report cards and guess who din't get one? Me."

He looked at me, "i'm sorry Christine you know we don't have a lot of money, and I can barely afford your school as it is. I wanted you to take the tesrt for the magnet schools, but you refused so you have to deal with late tuition payments okay!"

Magnet schools are really good public schools that you have to test to get into.

"I don't want to go. Just because I do well in my school were I am surrounded by idiots doesn not mean I am smart enough to get into those schools."

"Maybe if you tried it would alleviate a lot of stress."

"For who? You? so you don't have to pay, but it will add a whole bunch of pressure onto me. I am stressed with my school work right now. If you put me in a harder school I will be even more stessed out."

It was silent for the rest of the car ride home.

~A WEEK LATER~

I was sitting in english class when all of a sudden I got called to the office. I was a bit confused because I never get called to the office. I went down, and they gave me a letter and said, "Give this to your parents."

When I got back to class, I held the envelope up to the light trying to see through the envelope what the letter said. All I could see was the word suspension, and I ripped the envelope open. I was suspended because my dad failed to pay tuition. GREAT.

I went to the bathroom and called my dad on my phone and freaked out at him. He said he was sorry and that he would pay it.

The only good thing about today was that it was Friday and it is my birthday weekend.

I looked down at my phone to check for texts from Nathan. Nothing. he had been ignoring me lately, but he had said a couple things about hanging out for my birthday, but I didn't know if that was going to happen anymore...

I went home with Catherine, Jade, and Rebecca this was going to be a fun weekend. My Grandmother was sick so my parents wouldn't let me have a party, but Alex was having a party on my birthday for his birthday that was a couple days before mine. When we got to Catherine's house we invited over some guys that Catherine was good friends with. i liked hanging out with them because they were actually intelligent, and i could have a real conversation with them. We all stayed up till midnight playing Captain Dickhead, a drinking game you play with cards. Rebecca had drank a lot and was literally falling all over the place. Shane kept trying to call her, and he was just not happy at all. She ended up passing out in the closet, and we continued playing and tried to keep the alcohol away from Rebecca. When it hit midnight they had me chug this nasty cinnamon flavored drink called Fireball because it was the alcohol we had left. We stayed up later talking about philosophical ideas and just random things then went to sleep.

The next morning when I woke up I had a bunch of happy birthday texts and including one from Nathan which made me really happy considering he had been ignoring me. I asked him if we could hang out today. He said no he made other plans. well that really sucked.I replied it's alright it's not like it's my birthday or anything. Later on the boys left, and Emma came over. Rebecca went out to dinner with Shane, and she was going to meet us at the party after. We were all pretty psyched about Alex's party, but the one condition for going was not to tell Jennifer about it because Alex didn't want her to come. I felt bad not telling her, but I wasn't going to ruin it for everyone. We all got ready, and my friend Ryan gave us a ride to the party.

When we got there we were one of the first people to show up. Even Jaimie and Ellen showed up. I played beer pong,and I almost beat the 'undefeated' champ David. He had been playing with his friend Jack , Nathan's closest friend, as his partner, but Jack took a break, and now Ellen is his partner. My partner was my friend Victoria. We were down to the last cup for both sides, but in the end David had the better aim and beat us.

After a certain time we moved the beer pong tables inside and played for a bit inside. Rebecca showed up, and Jaimie, Ellen, and Victoria left. I sat down on the couch next to Jack and Emma. Jack and I had a conversation about Nathan, and he read some of the very dry texts we had had lately. Jack plainly said, "Yea that is just how Nathan is." I had been hearing that a lot lately, and it was getting annoying. There was a lot of noise in the kitchen I looked over and people were snorting lines of adderall, an ADHD medicine that is like mild cocaine when snorted. It was Rebecca's, and I knew because when I looked over I saw Rebecca doing a line. Wow. I remember her saying once she would never snort things..

When everyone was done snorting adderall, we all decided to watch scary movies. Jack hates scary movie so he wasn't to excited about it. I went to the bathroom, and when I came back Jack was laying down on the couch. I walked up "Hey you took my spot! Haha." He looked at me and said come lay down. Okay so i decided why not. It can't hurt anyone the only thing that will happen was we will cuddle, and I like to cuddle, and that is all that happened his hands wondered a couple times, but I just moved his hand, and he eventually stopped. We all watched movies until I fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning and used the bathroom. When I got back everyone was waking up, and the clean up was starting. After helping cleaning up we all sat around and played Xbox for a bit then ate some lunch that Alex's dad made. I got a call from my dad,

"Hey dad. What's up?"

"Kay, Your birthday dinner is tonight. You can go if you want but your step mom and I don't want to go. We don't want to follow along with last second plans that you and Mawmaw made."

"Okay dad.. I guess you don't have to come if you don't want to..."

I ended the call, and I couldn't help myself I started to cry a little. My dad doesn't even care enough to come to my birthday dinner. It hurt me. I whipped my tears and went into Alex's room where everyone was hanging out. Jack looked at me and new something was wrong, and asked me what was wrong. I told him and he said it was okay. My phone buzzed again. I was praying it wasn't my dad. I looked down and it was Nathan.

"Hey babe I am really sorry about not seeing you yesterday and being a dick. Do you want to come over today? I want to make it up to you."

I smiled. I am such a sucker. 'Yah that sounds good I just have to see if I can get a ride'

'Okay. I hope you can"

After several calls I finally found a ride, but when I texted him, he never answer.

I layed in Alex's bed with everyone else. Jack asked me to come by him. I did, and we cuddled again. "Oh my fucking god. you are so warm!" Jack said to me. " Haha Thank you"

After a while everyone left, and so did I. I went to my birthday dinner, and it was pretty good. I stil wished that my dad and step mom had gone. Jack was texting me the entire time, and I got a text in the middle of dinner from Nathan saying that he was sorry he fell asleep. I went home and went straight to sleep. Even though I had lots of fun on my birthday weekend it was pretty stressful too. A good nights sleep was exactly what I needed.
