Prologue

My name is Akihiro (Y/N). I was only five when I lost my parents. It was on their anniversary.

"Emilia, honey, could you pass the salt?" my dad asks. Mommy hands him the salt, while saying:

"Don't you think you've had too much pudding?" Big bro Judah bursts out laughing while Dad pouts. 

"That's not very cash money of you, honey," Dad says, and big bro Judah starts crying from laughter, so much that he turned into his beastboy form! It was really funny!

We weren't expecting anyone to come over. Dad went to open the door. How I wish he didn't.

"Akihiro residence?" the man at the door questioned. He was big and scary... I don't like him. He also had a gun... Was he here to send us to where grandma is?

"Yup! That's us!" Dad replied, not even scared of the big man! He's so brave... I want to be just like him when I get older!

And I still do.

"We've been informed that a... beastman... has been seen going into your house. We suggest that you peacefully hand it over to be disposed of." The man droned on and on, with a tone dripping with venom when he said beastman. So boring! Dad's expression changed, then changed back to happy in less than a second. I think Mommy heard what they were talking about, and she turned pale. I think big bro also knew, because his expression changed.

"Remember what we practiced, (Y/N)?" big bro asks. I shake my head, not quite understanding. "Why don't we play hide and seek? I'll count."

I dash off to my special hiding spot behind the cabinet. I hear big bro shout "Ready or not, here I come!" Suddenly, I heard Mommy screaming and then... a loud BANG! I ran to go see if Mommy was okay.

If only I stayed put.

"Mommy? Are you oka-"  I started. What I saw frightened me to the bone and made me wanna hurl. I saw Mommy and Dad in a pool of their own blood. Big bro was being dragged away by the big man and another big man. Before he got out of the door, he managed to wrench himself out of the two men's grips. He sprinted towards me and hugged me. He said,

"Once I'm gone, pack your things and put on my hoodie. Then run straight to Michiru's house, okay? Promise me, okay?" I couldn't say anything because of my state of panic and the seemingly endless waterfall of tears. I weakly nodded and hugged him back. The men got a hold of him once again, and dragged him with more force.

"(Y/N)! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU TO INFINITY!" he shouted.

To Infinity...

I ran to Mommy and Dad.

"The bad guys are gone, you can wake up now! Come on, wake up! Wake up!" I couldn't stop the overflowing tears anymore. "Wake up..."

"(Y-Y/N). Both Mommy and I love you. We love you to infinity." Dad whispers, before taking his final breath.

"NO! C-COME BACK! DON'T GO! WAKE UP!" I frantically shook them, but to no avail. "I-I love you to infinity..." When I realized that they weren't coming back, I let out a heartbroken, blood-curdling scream. 

They were gone.
