I'm so close to him, I can see how deep his green eyes are, with specks of blue. From a far I was certain his hair was black, now close I see highlights of brown. I can feel his warm, minty breath on my face, he smells fresh and sweet, like clean air in a garden of spear mint, with a water stream going through. My heart's racing, as I lower my view to his full bottom lip, aching to taste them.
Out of all the idiocy I could have done, I smile like a fool, dazed. When I see his beautiful face fall, looking down at me, a sudden sadness overcomes me. Then I'm brought back into reality as Maia is screaming my name into my ear, because it's so loud in this frenzy. Bless her soul, for I would have stood there like a child.
"Hi", I say. "Watch where you're going newbies, you could have ruined my outfit", she smirks, "Can't say much for you though, looks like someone's having a bad start, that's never good" says the artificial blonde, who has seemed to already ruined high school for me. "I'm sorry, it's kind of hard to see at this height. I'm sure for you it's not with those killing heels, but God bless you have them, or you would be in a much shorter position." Says my incredibly smartass Bestie, I have taught her well.
Girly over here huffs, and puffs, but can't blow us down. She takes a hold of Mr. here, but he just shrugs her off. I can't resist to smirk, she looks outraged, and glares daggers directly at me. Then brushes quickly past us, joining the stamped, but purposely knocks me over. I fall against his strong chest, as he tries to steady me.
"Ok then, nice bumping into you, well actually not really, but we must go. I believe that was the first bell, don't want to be late on our first day." Maia says. "Wait, I can't go out like this!" I exclaim. "Here just take some napkins, it's a new fashion trend." She smiles. I had almost forgotten he was still there, he's stareing at us amused.
Then for the first time I hear him speak. "I'll help you clean up, while your friend...." Maia looks up, "Maia." He nods, "Maia, right, tells your teacher you'll be late, you had an incident." Maia seems worried, "I don't know.." I'm quite unsure myself. "Don't worry, she'll be in good hands." Looking doubtful she turns to me, "You ok with that Arriane?" I stay quiet, still confused, "Sure, I'll be there soon. Now hurry, you'll be late." She looks around, nobody's left in the cafeteria. "I'll escort her myself." He says. Maia squints at him, "I'm watching you, I want every last hair of her untouched." Then marches off, without saying bye, doesn't even look back.
"So, Arriane, nice name by the way." He says turning towards me. "Thanks I got it for my birthday, yours?" I ask. "We'll see." is all he says.
