A/N- The first of my many Christmas oneshots! Anyway,this isn't going to be a ship,no this is gonna be a friendship story between Cal and Mario,because the handful of times they did interact I could SEE them hitting it off immediately (bc anime lmao)

It was the wonderful month of December at Camp Oasis. Some had left months before when summer ended,some left to go see family,and the rest had stayed to spend Christmas with their new families,or spouses,whatever the situation was. A handful of the people that did stay were hanging out in the community lounge,but they all had someone! Bryan had Inpu,Davis had Maina,Nad had Lee (they went to the ball as friends and only became closer as friends afterwords), and Ricarro had Momiji! Honestly Cal was happy for them all,but it did get a bit overwhelming after you realize you didn't really have anyone like that,lover or not. Mario was in the same boat,Kay was still away for the time being and he felt...lonely. Cal was sitting outside of the lounge on the stairs. Mario was in a corner inside before he decided to get some fresh air and saw Cal. "Hey Cal," He greeted,making Cal jump. "aH- Don't do that!" Mario chuckled and sat down next to him, "Sorry. Anyway what are you doing out here?" Cal sighed,his mood changing within seconds. "I dunno man I just..feel like the odd one out- No,that's not the right word..is it? I don't even know at this point."

"Elaborate?"

"Well Bryan and Inpu are together,so are Ricarro and Momiji,and Davis and Maina. And Nad and Lee have each other but I don't think they're an item,they're just friends." Mario sighed. He got what Cal meant now. "Yeah,I know the feeling..Kay's not around so it's a bit overwhelming to see everyone with their significant others and so..happy."

"Those are the words I was looking for."

"Mhm. Mainly I just hope Kay comes back by the time Christmas does come..I know what she's doing is important and all but I don't really wanna go back home for Christmas."

"Nah I understand. Lemme guess.Family drama?" Mario nodded. "Yeah,"

"May I ask what kind?"

"The classic new stepdad slash new boyfriend type drama."

"Ahh that makes sense now okay.." Mario sighed. "Sorry to get your mood down"

"No it's all good Cal. What about you though?" Cal raised a questioning eyebrow,even though they weren't looking at each other,they were both looking at the dirt path in front of them. "What about me? I'm not to interesting,"

"I mean,like..you never talk about your family. Do you have drama too?"

"Well..not really. I mean we probably do now considering one day I just up and disappeared and ended up in the fucking desert," The 2 laughed and fell into a comfortable silence for a moment. "...why don't we spend tonight together?" Mario said. "Oh? What do you mean?"

"I mean like,since everyone is hanging out with their lovers and stuff tonight why don't we spend it together- As friends! I don't want a repeat of the thing with Soren,only with Kay being the jealous one." Cal chuckled. "Sure! We could go watch anime or something,"

"Wolf Children?"

"HEY! You know how I am about Wolf Children!"

"Well duh,crying for an hour straight is a pretty good indicator on how you feel about it. Which is exactly why I want to watch it!" Cal groaned. "Fine," Mario laughed. "Merry Christmas Cal."

"A Merry Christmas to you too friend."
