Jacob Ashton Villanueva (POV)

I shake my head after mistaking that lady for Sirena.

(I must be crazy to think it was her...)

I look back at Sophia, who is staring back at me with her eyebrows furrowed.

"Babe..." Sophia says.

"Why are you acting like this?" Sophia asks, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Your behavior today is kinda weird. What's wrong? Is... Did something upset you?" she continues, as I just stare at her.

(Babe?)

(She called me... babe?)

(Now, that's amusing...)

(That's not how we address each other at all...)

(I'm wondering...)

(Is that how they address each other???)

"Babe?" I repeat, gazing directly into her eyes.

"You called me your babe?" I stated.

"I thought..." I paused.

"I thought we always called each other baby, not babe," I remarked, and she looked at me with that familiar expression on her face.

"W-What? I...I didn't say that," Sophia says.

"I... I clearly said 'baby,' you must have misheard it," she insisted as I shook my head and let out a deep sigh.

"Sophia..." I started.

"I think we need some space for now," I said.

"We... We need to take a break from this relationship," I added, reaching for my glass of vodka.

She then slammed her hand on the table, causing me to look at her, though I wasn't surprised.

"What do you mean you need space from our relationship?" Sophia asked.

"We are clearly okay and fi—," she continued, but I interrupted her, locking eyes with her.

"You think our relationship is okay and fine, Sophia... That's not how I see it or feel," I expressed.

"How can you say that?" I continued.

"When you're literally backstabbing me with one of my friends," I said.

"W-What?? Backstabbing you?! When did I ever do that, Jacob!?" Sophia retorted, looking upset, almost as if it were my fault and she was the victim.

(She's really good at acting...)

"You're involved with someone else, Sophia," I stated.

"Do you think that's acceptable behavior?" I questioned.

"Well, good for you that you found someone, and on top of that, it's my best friend," I added, and she looked surprised but quickly altered her expression.

"What do you mean by getting involved with someone?! And with your friend!?" she asked.

"I did not get make out with someone, Jacob. Especially not with your friend," Sophia insisted as I took a sip of the alcohol in front of me.

"How could you accuse me of something I didn't do, Jacob?" Sophia defended.

"Why? Have you ever seen me engaging in that kind of behavior?!" Sophia exclaimed.

"Yes," I confirmed, looking at her.

"For the last time, Sophia, yes," I repeated.

"I saw you with Raphael," I disclosed.

"You cheated on me with one of my friends, secretly meeting up and being intimate with him for four months, Sophia," I revealed.

"Do you really think I wouldn't find out?!" I expressed, appearing upset.

"Sophia, I'm not a toy to be played around with, and you're not a child anymore; you're an adult," I stated firmly.

"You're not a child anymore; this isn't a playground," I emphasized.

"And I'm not naive enough to be unaware of what you've been doing behind my back," I declared, staring at her.

"I have devoted so much to you, but it has all been in vain. Do you know why?" I continued as calmly as I could.

"Because everything I did was useless! You never loved me, and to make matters worse, you were romantically involved with one of my friends!" I concluded.

"Do you think I would still be okay?! It hurts me a lot, Sophia!" I expressed, and she just stared at me without any expression, crossing her arms.

"I didn't get intimate with him; he's your friend, why would I do something so foolish?" she defended.

"You're acting strangely today, baby," she said, which annoyed me.

"Why are you acting as if I'm joking? Sophia..." I retorted.

"I'm dead serious! And I know he's here!" I asserted.

"Don't pretend you're the victim; I caught you red-handed," I said, and she rolled her eyes, then held my hand.

"Baby, let's discuss this calmly, but first, let's calm down, okay?" Sophia suggested.

"Everything you heard isn't true, I di—" she tried to explain, but I cut her off.

"No," I intervened.

"No, Sophia," I repeated.

"I think we really need some space; I need to reflect on our relationship," I decided.

"I'll reach out to you once I have the right answer, so please don't call me," I stated, ready to leave when she suddenly grabbed my hand to stop me.

"Baby..." Sophia pleaded.

"Why are you behaving like this?" Sophia questioned.

"I haven't done anything wrong, so please, let's talk it out. You can't just leave me," Sophia says, tears streaming down her face.

I gently removed her hands and sighed as I looked at her.

"Baby, please...you can't leave me," Sophia begged, crying in front of me.

"I can't leave you? But Sophia, yes, I can," I affirmed.

"But first, let me contemplate all of this," I added, but she continued to cry in front of me.

(Hah... her acting skills are truly poor...)

(But she could definitely win an award for the best cheater...)

"Don't cry in front of me, Sophia," I said firmly.

"I won't be able to wipe those tears from your face anymore," I stated.

"And you know what?" I said, then smiled and took a deep breath.

"I think..." I began.

"I don't have to think about this anymore," I said, still smiling.

"Let's just end everything right here, right now," I declared.

"And, uh... don't come looking for me again. You can go back to your..." I paused.

"Your Raphael. I am so done with our relationship," I concluded, and she looked at me with tears in her eyes.

"No, you can't do this to me. You can't leave me," Sophia pleaded.

"I love you, but it isn't the same love anymore, Sophia," I clarified.

"I love you, but it will be just as a friend. You clearly cheated on me for four months. I wasn't the only one who caught you red-handed; my other friends saw you too, with Raphael," I added.

"I didn't believe them because I love you and I trusted you," I expressed.

"But not until I followed you. It hurts me, believe me... It hurts so bad for four months," I revealed.

"So, let's just break up; let's end it here," I said, smiling, and just like that...

I saw Raphael coming from the other direction, waving his hands to me, but I just stared at him and ignored him.

"Looks like your knight in shining armor is here to come and rescue you," I remarked.

"I just hope he'll love you just like how I loved you before," I added, as Raphael now stood next to her.

"Sophia?" he called out.

"What... Why are you crying?" he inquired.

(Hah... Seriously, what the heck)

"Bro, why is your girl crying?" he turned to me.

(Ah... Darn.)

"Is... Is everything alright?" he asked, and I just shook my head, smiling at him.

(And the award for the best acting this year goes to both of them.)

"Both of you can stop the act now," I said with a smile.

"I know everything. I was just pretending to be blind for the whole four months, but anyway... Good luck," I said and left them alone.

As I walked outside of the club, I took a deep breath and placed my hand on my chest, feeling the pain inside once again.

(Fuck...)

(I did it.)

(I really did it.)

(But...)

(Why does it still hurt so much?!)

(My head is throbbing so badly.)
