I sighed as I finished my post, clicked "send," and watched it upload.

"Do I have to do this?" I asked my publicity agent, Janet.

"I'm sorry, honey!" she answered. "If this whole 'college boy' thing doesn't happen, your career will go kaput! You need the publicity."

Janet was right. My career was at its lowest point. I don't think it'd ever been that important for me to advertise.

I sighed again. "I know, I know. It's just that I'm not really into the whole public school thing. I've been homeschooled since before I even started my career. I'm not going to be able to socialise."

Janet waved her hand dismissively. "Oh, come on. Everyone there is going to want to socialise with you! You're Jake Hale, for crying out loud! Not to mention that Nick will be there with you."

"Nick?!" I asked her, surprised.

Janet nodded.

Nick is my best friend but he is a bit of a... um, shall we say playboy? And I'm talking about 'if Barney Stinson was a real person' kind of a playboy, if you know what I mean.

As if on cue, Nick entered the room.

"Hey Jake!" he said. Then he winked at Janet and she giggled.

Yes, Janet, the "no nonsense!" publicity agent with 2 black belts, actually giggled.

I shuddered at the thought of Nick and Janet. Sure, she was only four years older than him, but still!

I shook off these thoughts and greeted Nick back. "Hey Nick! How was your day?"

"Awesome, dude!" he said as he popped a grape that was in a bowl on the kitchen island into his mouth. "And I can't wait to meet hot college chicks!"

Janet's smile disappeared, which made me sure that Nick had hooked up with her at some point during the week.

She quickly straightened herself and cleared her throat. "Well, I better get going, boys. I'll meet you the day after tomorrow."

After she left, I glared at Nick, who was stuffing more grapes into his face.

"What?!" he asked, well, more like muffled.

I just rolled my eyes and threw a couch pillow at him.

How any girl could find him of all people attractive is beyond me.

The next day, I decided that it was time to begin packing. I wasn't going to leave it all until the last minute, you know.

I thought about university as I packed.

The last time I'd been to public school was probably in kindergarten.

Wow. I thought to myself. That long, huh?

It had been a long time since then. I wondered what it would be like. Then I wondered if this was truly the best way to gain publicity, because I could think of a hundred other ways. Billboards, more concerts, more gigs, maybe even passing out free CDs on the side of the road.

Maybe that last one would have just made things worse, but you get the point.

Then I thought about the people. My social anxiety could never, but if I can manage to sing and dance in front of hundreds of people, I was sure I could handle a few fellow classmates, right?

Right?

Right?

Yay!

Someone actually bothered to read the second chapter of Finding Synchrony! So, thanks for that, and I am sorry that this chapter is so short, but I really couldn't give too much away right now. Plus, I literally had no idea what to write about him. Next chapter will be up tomorrow, please give it a try, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
