"Almost there, boss."
Max nodded to the Driver from the 'shotgun seat'. He didn't really understand why people really called the passenger seat 'shotgun', but I guess it sounds cool enough. There was another thing that Max didn't exactly understand, and it was this contract:
Why did the British government need a group of Mercenaries to guard what had to be a secret government facility? Isn't that what the military was for? There was no need to stress out about it, Max thought. All they needed to do was stand around and look pretty, so it was with that Max would rest his eyes a bit and took a little cat nap...
"Oi, Boss, get the ell' up-"
This was all Max heard before he was hit in the arm by the butt of a rifle, causing him to jump, opening his eyes. What he got in return for opening his eyes was a 5'5" Aussie holding what had to be one of the longest M4s he's ever seen.
"Jerome, I have no clue how that thing is a viable option for you, but whatever floats your boat."
Max would say, giving the man a smile."Anything can work if you aren't drunk, high, or stupid, sir-"
Jerome replied, letting out a small snicker and a smile, before turning around and moving up to the rest of the group, who was already making their way towards the facility.Max exited the SUV, grabbing his M4, hauling ass to catch up with the rest of the group. There was something.. ominous about this. You'd think there would be at least one guard along this path, but as he ran along it, he didn't see one sign of life. Eventually though, he caught up with the rest of the team.
"Could've let me catch up, y'know."
Max said jokingly, which gained a laugh from his men, and a response from a tall Irishman in the group."We did though-"
He said, laughing, shaking his head at the fact that Max was probably going to kick his ass when they got back to their 'HQ'.Eventually, after a while of walking, they got to a building that was resembling a normal office building, but in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Max would take out a card that was given to him by their employer, and opened the door with it, giving the squad access to the building. Once the squad was all inside, the door shut and locked behind them. That's when they realized that there was something wrong.
The room was basically empty, except for a few people who looked like regular ol' office employees. Some of them looked.. injured? It was then that they also noticed that there was also a few... Bodies..."Hey, you, fuck is going on?"
Max would yell over to one of the employees, who looked basically unharmed."Wh- who are you!? Are you special forces!?"
The man said, panicking. Whatever had happened seemed to have scared the man."... Something like that, now tell me what happened."
Max would reply, walking over to the man, kneeling down. The man would explain that there were 'monsters' attacking everyone that was down there in the facility, and that they were cannibalizing people too. But the man also told him that dead people were coming back to life, which seemed to be why there was also bullet holes in the heads of the dead bodies, which Max saw after he looked closer at them. The bullet holes were a product of the Security/Military Officer who was in the corner, holding onto an M9A3. Max would stand back up, and began to lead his men through the door, to go deeper into the facility. The security officer would try to stop them when he realized what they were doing, but was too late, as the last man exited the room.
Soon after they were officially in the facility, an alarm started blaring, and the red lights turned on, signaling that the facility was officially on lockdown, and that there was now no turning back as the door would lock completely.
"All remaining security forces report to Sector C Laboratories, and hold these fucking things off, do not let them exit that sector!"
This was the announcement that would randomly blare through the intercom system, which meant that everything seemed to not have gone to hell fully, thank god."This is gonna be fun! One who gets the least kills buys everyone a round!"
Jerome would cheer out, which would give him the pride to run up in front of the group, which inspired the rest of the group to want to kick some dead ass-Max wouldn't just be letting Jerome think he's the one who is leading here though, and soon got in front of him, sprinting ahead of him, forcing the rest of the group to have to keep up with him now. They would soon enter into a large cafeteria, which had employees, and what seemed to be doctors who were wearing lab coats that were taking care of the injured, taking shelter inside. There was also about ten armed men, who seemed to have been the guards tasked with protecting the civilians.
"Who's in charge here?"
Max would ring out, which gained the response of one of the guards quickly running over."Leftenant John Cross, at your service."
The man said, offering a handshake, which Max would accept, shaking his head."Maximus Bernard. What's the situation, Leftenant?"
Max would ask John, who let out a large sigh.
"Bad, very fucking bad, Max-"Max let out a sigh, instinctively nodding. John would basically explain that they were, "In a real life fucking zombie movie", and that their best move was to get all of the civilians who were still alive, and get out of here, and then drop a bomb on this damn facility.
"... I would agree, but we can't. The way we came from got shut off due to this lockdown."
Max said, which gave John a bit of anxiety."Fuck! The only way to shut it off is to get in contact with the guys in the Sector B Security room, or send someone down there, but they said that there was a lot of zeds after em' before they went radio silent-"
John said, basically starting to go on a rant, causing Max to put his hand on the Man's shoulder."John, we're going to get you, your men, and these civilians out of here. I'm going to take a team down there, and leave 3 guys here with you. Alright?"
Max would say, letting out a deep breath. John nodded. With that, Max rallied his men up, and told them how this was going down. The Irishman, and two others were going to stay behind with the civvies, helping the security protect them with their lives, while Max, Jermey, and 3 other guys would go find the men in Sector B Security.
If they are still alive that is....To be continued.
