You slam the brakes.
All it took for the creature to catch up with you and overturn the crashed car was a a wrong turn at the junction. The thing slams its body against the chassis, trying to squash the car and you within it like an aluminium can.
You had raced out of the greengrocer's outside Shikagami earlier that day, preferred by many for its fresh farm produce. The car keys had found the lock after several slippery attempts by your shaking hands. In your hurry, you had forgotten to pull back the handbrake. Your heart hammered away within its bony cage as you pulled up at the signals, beating to the tune of the sands flowing down the hourglass tattoo.
Tears came natural and unabashed to your eyes. They tried their best to wash away the bitterness of the bike within your mouth with their saltiness. You despised Sien more than anything in that split second. You knew that you can't tell your mother, who is practically wrapped around Sienna's fingers. Your father would simply rage and launch a tirade about your financial sense.
Neither of them would understand the magnitude of the trouble the bitch had put herself and you in. You weep on the steering wheel, burying your face within the gap between your wrists. The honking of car horns had startled you so badly that you nearly choked on your tears. You had stepped on the accelerated and gone straight, instead of taking a right.
The beast was growing tired with each successive push. The puffed airbags, the seat belt and the seat try desperately to reduce each impact, but you're still being shaken like a can of beans. Eventually the beast gives up and takes off into the darkness of the woods, moaning and growling as if in pain.
From what you could tell through your irregularly shaped window while upside down, the thing was an albino cougar the size of a rhinoceros.
You huff, loosen your seatbelt and decide to crawl out through the window. Your first attempt leads you to gain a cut on your elbow. You try again, this time using your jacket as a carpet to crawl over the broken glass.
You're relatively unharmed for a person stuck in such a severe car accident. The goddess was right, she said that she would torture you with her pets, not kill you. You've seen lion cubs playing with their food, prolonging its life for their entertainment. Death was inevitable for the prey, no matter how far away it was.
You have options, plenty of them. But first you need to inform someone about your location in the forest. After all, the car had careened off the road down the forested hill-slopes. Your phone was last seen on the dashboard. Speed is vital to your survival against the the creature. The sands are still flowing down through the hourglass tattoo on your palm.
You stick your hand inside the car and grope for your smartphone.

。:゚.*・So, what do you grab? 。:゚.*・
Let's decide with a simple exercise.
Take a six-faced cubical die. Roll it once and note the number on its face.
Add ten to it and go to the corresponding chapter.
May the Goddess of Fortune favor you, despite you having yet to pay her debt.
