chapter four: a kiss

--------------

HECTOR Stanfield is a quiet boy. He rarely talks to anyone except for his close, close friends and family. And that's exactly what made Germany Newton determined to get to know the boy. At first it started with subtle glances and soft conversations never lasting more than five minutes. But then it slowly built up to lingering touches and hinted attempts at flirting. The two boys had no idea what the hell they were doing but they both liked it so far. It was soft and nice and exactly what they both need.

Germany and Hector walked into the ice rink giggling, light flirting and sarcastic banter flowing back and forth between the two boys. They quickly got their skates and went onto the ice. But their alone time was quickly cut off as Fernando, Hector's close friend, and Kennedy, a boy that Germany knew solely threw his friend London, Kennedy's sister get into a huge fight on the ice and kicked out of the ice rink.

Germany shrugged and grabbed Hector's hand to drag him away from the idiot group but Hector pulled him toward the group, severely saddening Germany's ego.

"Ju Ju, what the hell happened?" Hector spoke softly, directing his voice towards Juliana and still holding tightly to Germany's hand.

"Well, Kenedy was flirting with me and London could sense I was uncomfortable and told him to stop and he didn't listen. So instead of letting anyone else tell him no Fernando shoved him. Then Kennedy punched Fernando in the face and they got into a fight. Boys and their toxic masculinity, am I right?" Juliana spoke quickly, explaining the story without many details to keep it short. The rest of the group giggled softly and looked over to the entrance seeing Kennedy and Fernando getting kicked out of the ice rink.

Germany sighed, having wanted to actually take some time with Hector today. Hector turned around having heard his annoyed sigh and excused himself and Germany from the rest of the group and pulled the boy to the side to talk to him.

"What's wrong, Manny?" Hector exclaimed worriedly. Quickly trying to read his friends face, failing miserably.

"Nothing is wrong, H. I'm fine." Germany lied what he thought was slickly, but not passing Hector. After all Hector's lie detection heightened during the jolly holidays.

"Your lying tell me what it is." Hector spoke softly, not wanting to push him too hard, as he wouldn't like that to happen to himself.

Germany bit his lip, pulling the sleeves of his christmas sweater over his hands and sighing longingly. Suddenly as if a gush of courage washed through him he leaned forward and kissed Hector on the lips softly. Realising what he did, he ran out of the skate rink leaving a startled, frozen Hector standing breathless in an ice rink alone.
