It started with nothing. An empty black abyss with nothing around, not even a speck of dust. It was... ominous.
That all changed when a pale blue light shone down, illuminating a small silhouette, the orange tufts of hair softly glistening in the dramatic lighting.
Shoyo Hinata... he had never been told that was his name, he just kind of... knew? His glistening orbs darted around, reflecting the blue light into the empty abyss while his hands stayed stuck by his side.
Shoyo Hinata... a name? For a boy... a gender... What was this? The empty dark space was terrifying to any mortal, but for some strange and unexplainable reason, the ginger-haired boy... was calm.
As he reached his hand out into the empty space out in front of him, a small cloud of dust started to form, swirling around, creating mystical patterns while reflecting the pale blue light. It was whimsical and mysterious, causing shivers to run up his spine.
The dust-like particles shone in Hinata's eyes as a dark road started to form in front of his eyes. It stretched out, further than the eye could see, into the dark and silent abyss. As if a hand-guided him, Hinata took a step forward onto the concrete road.
The sound of the dust clearing with a slight fizz echoed in the darkness, sending shockwaves of excitement up the humans back. It was so strange yet he wanted to know more, learn what this all was.
Soft pattering was heard with each footstep Hinata took, and with each footstep, a new part of the road was lit up by the alien-like blue light while the dust cleared, making way for the concrete road that seemed to extend on for a never-ending amount of time.
Shoyo Hinata, Shoyo Hinata, Shoyo Hinata. The name seemed to roll off his tongue perfectly like it was meant for him. The name gave him power like he could do anything like he could conquer the world. While the ginger-haired boy may not conquer the world, he had more in store for him.
Quickening his pace, Hinata stared in awe as the dust sped around, going from a sandstorm into a large desert-like landscape that ran across the edges of the roads, shining a creamy blue in the alien-like lights that were shining down from now where.
A smile spread across the small boy's face as the dust continued to whirl around, creating even more dunes stretching off far into the distance.
Then, a building came into view. There wasn't anything special about it, in fact, it might have been the most boring building someone could come up with. It was a plain black box, small glass doors on the front marked the entrance with a small neon light wonkily placed next to the entrance.
There was no reason, but Hinata couldn't help but be drawn to it like it was calling to him, and he was yearning for it. As the building grew closer and closer, the butterflies in Hinata's stomach grew with each step, until he was finally there. Standing in front of the glass doors while staring into what seemed to be... an arcade?
The bell rang out, echoing in the empty space as Hinata swung the door open, being hit with the musty smell of a seemingly vacant room. The only sign of life was the small noises coming from the limited games that were placed around the room. Screens flashed with characters running across screens, fighting opponents and collecting items.
The orange-haired boy's orbs were drawn away from the addicting machines when someone or something moved out of the corner of his eye.
"Five coins for five games, hand them over for a chance to win" a sweet yet scratchy voice called.
A man, or woman? Hinata couldn't tell, sat behind the counter to his left, shoulder hunched over with a bony hand sticking out, waiting for their payment. An odd feeling came over the small boy as those otherworldly hands curled and folded rhythmically.
With a sense of urgency, Hinata looked down into his clenched fist, opening it palm upwards. A face of shock came over his face as there in the base of his hands lay five perfectly shiny coins.
"H-here"
Under the cloak, the person smiled. Their smile went up to their ears, making it seem evil and threatening.
"You have five tries, play a game as many times as you like, but there is no guarantee you will win"
There was a moment where the soft bleeps and bloops of the arcade machines filled the air which quickly disparate when Hinata spoke up."What exactly am I playing for?"
"You're playing for love my dear, now go, enjoy it while it lasts"With a small push of the thin person, the orange haired boy felt overwhelmed by the massive choice and range he had to pick from. Taking a moment, he breathed. It wasn't much but it gave him time to clear his head.
Looking around once more, a certain game caught his eye. It was a night sky black with dark blue neon lights flickering around it. As he strode up to it, an uneasy feeling settled over him.
This was it... placing his hands on the controls, Hinata started to click away, each move getting closer to victory.
