Destiny's POV

I woke up to the sound of a cat that was being lit on fire. I jumped out of bed, bewildered.

"DID SOMEONE DIE?" I yelled as I busted out of my room to check on my sister.

Juliet popped her head out from under her blanket. "W-What..."

I frantically looked around. "Didn't you hear that sound?" Juliet stared at me with a dazed expression. "Destiny, what sound?" I sighed and shook my head. "Nevermind..." I glanced up at the clock in her room. 7:42 A.M.....

"SCHOOL!" I screamed as I ran out of Juliet's room. "Don't fall..." I heard Juliet call behind me.

I slammed the door of my room shut as I panicked to pick my outfit. Mornings. You gotta hate them...

I threw my hands up in frustration and grabbed the nearest sweats. Quickly throwing them on, I grabbed my bag and jumped down the stairs to the kitchen. Juliet munched on a toast, fully dressed and ready. Dang, she was fast....

She eyed me and put down her toast. "I don't mean this to sound offensive, but today is the last day of school.... So, you might want to dress a little more nicely...." I sighed and threw my bag down. I dragged myself back up the stairs. I plucked out a white blouse and my nicest pair of shorts from the closet.

I hurridly tied my hair up into a ponytail as I trotted downstairs. Juliet stood by the door in her light blue blouse, white skirt, brown leather combat boots, and her jean backpack on her back. Her cinnamon, brown hair was neatly tied into low pigtails that bounced around as she turned her head.

"Are you ready?" she asked smiling pleasantly. I nodded and grabbed my bag off the floor. "Let's go!"

*****************************

Juliet waved goodbye as she skipped off to her school direction. I smiled, happy to know that after this summer, she would be joining me in my highschool. I know what your thinking, siblings don't really get along this well you know... Well let me tell you first hand as the older step sister, YOU'RE WRONG! Well at least Juliet is the sweetest fourteen year old I know. Anyone is lucky to have her as a sister. On the other hand.....

I flipped my head around and faced Jonah. My older brother. I know I said that I was the older step sister, but Jonah was adopted by my mom after I was born. He isn't my biological brother, but he isn't my step brother either. He's my brother.

"What are you staring at?" Jonah snorted, flicking my forehead. "Oh, shut up..." What I find amazing is the age difference between us Cross siblings. Jonah is two years older than me and I am two years older than Juliet. What a coincidence!

I rubbed my forehead as I entered the school building. The school day seemed to fly by, because before I knew it, summer started and I was on my way to a camping trip with my entire family...

Juliet's POV

I stared out the window, observing the tall trees and flowers that flew by. Destiny used her time in the car to play on her phone instead of enjoying the view outside. I sighed, disapointed my sister was not intrested in nature as I was. When I think about, Destiny and I seem to be opposites.... Destiny was a lot more laid back than I was. I admit, I get stressed by little things easily. Unlike my sister, I was scared of most things. Monsters, ghosts, the dark, and even fire made me feel uneasy. Don't ask why I even agreed to go camping.

Jonah kept bugging Destiny in the most strangest ways. Poking her, pulling out her ear buds, whacking her on the head.... It got loud pretty quickly. Another difference between my sister and I. I wasn't loud. I'm not shy and scared of talking, it's just that I dont talk that much outside. My sister was energetic and funny. I, on the other hand, was the most boring person I know.

The car came to a screeching halt. We reached the campsite.

"It's amazing that New York has a forest." my mom said as she opened the car door. Daddy, and yes I still call him 'Daddy', chuckled as he unbuckled his seat belt. "Well, Alice, I was suprised too. Steven told me about it a week ago."

I popped open the door and ran outside. The sky was still bright and blue with the soft cotton candy clouds. Good, I might fall asleep before it gets too dark. Bird cries echoed and the smell of pine filled my nostrils. The ground wasn't muddy nor really dry. The grass was a perfect green color, decorated by bright flowers. I felt my body relax. It felt nice.

My sister tackled me to the ground, laughing. I let out a high pitched yelp and fell to the ground with her.

"Doesn't it feel so nice?" she sighed as she squeezed the life out of me.

"Destiny, let go of your sister. She's turning purple."

Destiny rolled her eyes as she let go of me. She hopped up to her feet and dusted off her jeans.

Mom sighed. "Now, look at your jeans. They have green stains on them! You know it's hard to wash that off."

My sister snorted. "Then don't try to take them out. I think the green tint looks very nice."

"It looks like someone had a messy sneeze on them"

"Shut up, Jonah"

Daddy closed the trunk of the van with a loud, CLACK. He carried the metal pipes for the tent on his shoulder and the rest of the supplies on the ground. "No one's going to help me?" Jonah quickly grabbed the heavier supplies. Destiny grabbed her sleeping bag along with mine and pretended they were gigantic marshmallows. This trip seemed fun at first, until we got attacked by the most horrifying thing I could think of.
