Genderbent Oswald X Felix
Octavia was sat in the living room crossed legged on the couch. Dozens of bunny children were crowed around her as well, some even hung over the couch and her shoulders. She brushed down the bunny child, who sat in her lap, ears and stared at the TV.
"Bad storm out their mama" one of the children called from across the room. They were standing up on their tippy toes to look out the frosted window of the living room. Others crowed around immediately once the storm was mentioned. "Awe's" and "oh's" sounded in unison as if directed by one of them.
Octavia, as worried as she was right now, couldn't help the small chuckle that rose in her throat. She loved her children through everything. They were what kept her going for the longest time.
"Mama look." The child in her lap pointed up to the screen again. "Look at the roads." The child stated again at the picture on the television. It was showing a highway from a security camera of a gas station. At least half a foot of snow was laid about and the wind was blowing violently through the bare land.
"Shit..." she mumbled under her breath upon seeing it. Her ears fell down against her shoulders, and her heart sunk to her stomach. The worry bubbled back up and burned at her esophagus, It almost made her feel like she would genuinely throw up.
"Mama bad word!" A child next to her exclaimed as soon as the word left Octavia's mouth. "Yeah Mama!" Another from the window called out, though they probably hadn't even heard it. "Shit." Another one who was sitting on the floor next to the doorway stated defiantly.
"Yes I know, shh I'm trying to listen, and don't say that." She quickly answered all her children responses. It was a trait she had grown use to from having so many voices always talking at once. Octavia ignored them for the moment and stared sternly at the TV. This storm was worse than they thought it was. That worried her.
"You think Mr. Felix is okay." The one in her lap asked and looked up. It had been the question most of them had been wanting to ask. It had been that exact question that kept Octavia staring at the screen across the living room.
Octavia's stare became more blank. She dulled down and dissociated for a long moment. She was aware of her kids pulling on her arms and trying to snap her out of it, but it was difficult to do so. Her mind was never a good place when this happened. What if she lost Felix just as she lost Oliver...? What if he never came home? What if he was far away still and froze to death.
"Mama!" One leaning across the back of the couch screamed into her ear. It was enough to wake her from her horrible trance. "Snap out of it mama" another one that was pulling her arm stated now that they saw her eyes returning to normal. "It's okay mama." The one in her lap stated softly. She felt bad for asking the question.
"I'm... okay." She took a deep breath and calmed her body that had started shaking slightly. "Hand me the remote please." She asked, to which one of her children handed her the remote. She turned the TV off and got up carefully, still holding some of the kids. "I think it's time for bed. Come on now." She began to walk towards the kids room.
