ꨄ︎. yeeun's pov

Another cold, silent night has come as the breeze hits my skin. The crickets are the only ones who filled up the silence and there are no stars seen in the sky.

Today's a pretty sad night. My mom's calling my dad, wishing that she can bring him back here. I was listening to her shouting in pain and in tears as my heart also aches.

"If you can't come back just because of me, then do it for Yeeun! I don't care if you don't love me anymore, but I do care that you still love Yeeun and I want her to feel complete! Please, Hyungki! Just come home! Come back and be with us again!"

I may not be looking at my mom, but I'm pretty sure her eyes are swollen and her voice turned raspy after all the shouting. She was crying her heart out, wishing that he can hear her. My dad wasn't answering at all.

I didn't mind listening again and decided to head out. I don't want to be affected a lot, I'm still young for these. But my heart's already in pain, but not as much pain as what my mom feels.

After heading out, I sat on a bench not far from here. The park's on its closing time [ 10:00 PM ] so I'll be spending my time sitting here while watching the empty sky, hoping that a star would show up.

As I sat down and look around, I felt like someone's getting closer to me. I turned around to find a familiar little boy.

Oh! It's 'adorkable' guy!

"Why're you still awake?" I asked in a soft tone, "Was about to watch the stars tonight but I can't find one. You?" He replied with a small pout on his face.

I pouted too, "Same. But there aren't that much stars for tonight." "Yeah, unless there'll be a lost star showing up at midnight."

I agreed by nodding at him as he sat beside me and looked at the sky.

It was so still and the crickets made music to my ears. I felt peace and quiet after hearing all the pain inside the house next to my room.

As I scan the night sky with hope, I felt like he was just there staring at me, but this time he snapped himself in his thoughts.

Though I wonder, what's with me that he always just... stare? Do I have some crumbs on my face? I'm pretty sure I'm clean enough before heading out.

As I wonder, he suddenly asked "Have you seen a star?" I continued scanning the whole sky until I finally saw one, literally just one.

I pointed at it as the star tries to shine a lot more brighter for me to see. "There, I see one!"

"Honestly, there's two more." He replied, which made me furrow my brows "Wait, how?"

He then revealed what he has been hiding from his back — a sparkler — and gave it to me then grabbed another one for himself.

I was awed at how it sparkles. "Wow, this— I haven't seen this before." I looked at the sparklers, sparkling nonstop, "You know, these thing reminds me of my father." He shared as I listen, "Every night, when there are no stars to see, he light these up and hand it to me and mom."

As he ends his story, I kept my head down out of nowhere. I guess I envy him because he has shared some memories with his father for a long time, while mine... well, we did have some memories, but it lasted for a short while.
