I walked through the threshold of her place. It was completely different than mine. Definitely had a woman's touch on it. The pleasant smell of apples, cinnamon, and clove hit my nose. Perfect holiday scent.  "You can have a seat on the couch," She said as she threw her keys on the table. I watched her walk to her kitchen, the sway of her hips made me blink twice. "Do you want some wine or anything?" She yelled from the kitchen. I looked around as I made my way to the couch, looking down at her fluffy ass white rug. "Yeah that's fine, do you want me to take my shoes off so I don't get anything on your bougie ass rug?" I asked. She laughed. "You can if you want to." I took my shoes off and placed them by the door before sitting on the couch. I silently prayed that my socks didn't stink. I've been on my feet all day, bustling around the store like crazy. This was my first time sitting down since a quick twenty minute lunch break I had earlier.

Zora returned to the couch with two wine glasses and a bottle of wine. She had this bright smile on her face that made my heart skip a beat. She handed me a glass before sitting the bottle on the table. I watched her struggle with pulling the cork from the bottle. "You always stand by while I struggle huh?" She laughed. "I'm just letting you be independent." I joked. She laughed and handed me the bottle. I easily tugged on the corkscrew and pulled the cork out. "You just wanted to see me pull the damn cork out." I laughed. She grinned as she poured both of us a full glass of wine. We both took huge gulps and sighed before sitting back on the couch and relaxing. "How was your day?" We both asked at the same time. "You first." I smiled. "It was a little hectic but seeing you made it a bit better." She confessed. "Me too, I'm glad I could bring you breakfast." She smiled. "I can make it a habit too,"  I said while sipping on the wine. "So, is this part of your game plan to get me?" She asked. I cocked an eyebrow.

I don't have a player bone in my body,  I still don't know how I got Ashley to say yes to my proposal so fast. When I first discovered Zora, on a steamy morning in June in the bookstore, I for sure thought my windows steamed up because of me. That girl ran me hot in a good way. I remember watching her navigate between the bookshelves, checking out a few books, excitedly smiling whenever she found a specific book. That bright smile of hers was present that day too when she bought those books. She was talking a mile a minute about how excited she was to finally find a copy of this vintage book she had been looking for. After that, she came in all the time looking for different books then she added in our coffee and muffins as her nutritional breakfast every morning. I didn't mind seeing her at all and I could tell she was trying to get my attention. She definitely had it from the start. I turned to her and smiled, staring at her quizzical face. "Zora, I don't have any games, I don't even know how I'm sitting here right now with you," I confessed. "I brought you breakfast this morning because for the first time in a while, you weren't a part of my morning routine and I didn't like that." I shrugged.

She pulled her bottom lip in her mouth, holding back a smile. "It's taking a lot of willpower for me to not jump on you right now." She narrowed her eyes. I grinned. "Then why did you stop me from kissing you the other night?" I asked. She lowered her eyes, fiddling with her nails. "When I moved here, I was running away from a relationship, a pretty toxic relationship, nothing abusive just the type of relationship that really had me mental health fucked up." She confessed. "This was really an impulse move, I came here to figure some things out." I nodded. "I guess I came back on impulse too," I confessed. "Running from a failed engagement, my Pop really didn't need me here but I needed to be." She nodded. "I guess we have more in common than we thought." She smiled. "If you need more time to heal, I understand, but I am feeling you, Zora," I confessed. She had this spark in her eyes. She took another sip of her wine before speaking. "I think it's very clear that the feelings are mutual." We both laughed nervously.
