After her mom and brother got home everything went normally. They ate lunch together and watched some movies, Gabe really liked action and horror while Stephanie and her mom were more into romances. They settled on both and then it was time for dinner. Stephanie approached her mom while she was making lasagna.
"I know it's a sensitive subject but..." she looked down at her hands and started to pick at her nails. "What exactly happened to dad?" Her mother turned the stove on and set a pot full of her special made sauce that she would put in the lasagna on the burner.
"It was my fault..." she said looking like tears were about to stream down her face. "Some other witches tried to convince me to open the gates for them..." Stephanie was confused as to why other witches would want the gates open. Wasn't it safer for them with less demons on earth? Her mother continued "I believe that they were threatened into helping the demons. And when I didn't want to do what they said there was consequences." She took a big pan out from in a cabinet below the sink. "They said he'll be fine but he won't wake up until I do what they want." Gabe came from the living room into the kitchen where they all were.
"Don't worry mom, we'll find a reverse spell. Or we will open the gates if we have to." He had a look of hope.
"NO!" Their mom dropped the pan and it made a loud crash. "Never that. I promised him. He would rather die and so would I." They all went silent. Gabe started to help their mom with dinner. He made sure to handle all the hot things since their mother seemed a little fragile. Stephanie thought the whole time about a reverse spell. For some reason she had faith that they would find one. They all started to get the table ready when they heard a knock on the door.
"Expecting someone?" Stephanie asked her mother and Gabe. Both of them shook their heads.
"Let me get it." Gabe said with caution just in case it was someone they should be worried about. When he walked over to the door Stephanie grabbed a knife from the kitchen table, she was ready for anything. Then Gabe opened the door. "Can I help you?" Gabe asked then Stephanie heard a familiar voice.
"Hi Im a friend of Stephanie's. Is she here?"
"Justin?" She said peering over the corner. She ran to him and gave him a hug. "What are you doing here?"
"When you told me that your dad was sick I couldn't let you be alone. I got the fastest ticket I could." Justin smiled and Gabe gave him an unwelcoming stare. Justin was shorter then Gabe but not by too much. He had about the same amount of muscle. His long black hair looked different from when Stephanie saw him. He must've cut it to impress her mom. He was also wearing a sweater, something he never does. He's more of a suit type guy. He's constantly working since he's one of the only good lawyers in boiler.
"Well don't stay outside all day it's freezing." Stephanie's mother said smiling. She remembered that her mother never invites anyone in. She said that vampires need to be invited in somewhere. They walked in and Stephanie grabbed a plate for Justin to eat with them.
"Oh that's alright I don't want to intrude."
"Oh shut up and eat. My mother makes a really good lasagna." Stephanie said smiling.
"Here let me get you something to drink." Stephanie's mother grabbed him some champagne like the rest of them had. They had a wonderful dinner and everyone seemed to like Justin and Justin liked everyone. Stephanie told him that he could sleep in her bed and she would sleep on the couch that night. When she said goodnight to Justin and was starting to head to bed she ran into her brother in the hallway.
"Stephanie. We need to talk."
