AARON'S POV
The chocolate was melting smoothly with the heat and the fine brown chocolate chips resembled the doping in the pizza. The fresh cream base was smooth and sweet mixing slowly with dark brown turning it into a shady brown. I carefully added the cream base and chocolate along with the chocolate chip layering between them. A simple dessert like chocolate mousse trifle could bring the happiness when we do it from our heart. I quickly went to the oven to get the now baked spinach Manicotti casserole. The steam and the aroma made me feel light. I finally sprinkled the fresh spinach and dripped white sauce to make it look delightful. The cheese and the manicotti layer were tender to smoothly melt in your mouth.
"Hmm... This aroma...", I exclaimed smelling the dish and enjoying my time in the kitchen, when Avery interrupted me.
"is making me steal a piece without your consent", he just said and grabbed a piece of my now cooked dish and dashed back to the living room.
"You thief, couldn't you just wait till dinner", I shouted from the kitchen shaking my head. As much as I love to cook, he loves to eat. I would rather let him eat now because, I am sure the dinner is not gonna be so peaceful for him.
"I don't understand why you are still a helper and not a chef in the restaurant.", Ave asked while chewing his food. I have been working in a nearby restaurant for almost a year. It's the main source of our income. I am also currently pursuing my second year in culinary school.
"To become a chef one needs experience and we can't climb to the top most position without experiencing each level of work", I explained him the fact when the door bell rang.
"It must be Alex, I will get it", Avery said as he rushed to the door. I just hope it's Al, atleast Ave wouldn't be so disappointed. Contradictory to my wish, she stood there with just a small purse in her hands. So, she is not staying, which really is a relief.
"Wouldn't you invite your mom?", she asked Avery for which he rolled his eyes and stepped aside letting her in. Her hair was tied into a classic bun. She was dressed in white and yellow with high heels, making her look younger than she actually was.
"Nice to see you, dinner is ready already and I will serve once Alex arrives. You can freshen up if you want", I said as she settled in the living room making herself comfortable.
"Thanks dear, but I am good. How are you guys doing?", she asked us quietly monitoring the current state of the house which was surprisingly clean. 'Avery did a good work yesterday by cleaning them' I thought to myself.
"Everything is going great. How is your life?", I asked without giving any chance for Ave's sarcastic replies.
"Just the same, Romane left for Italy two days back with the kids for some Business". Kids my ass, they are elder than us and she still calls them kids. No wonder, she visited us today.
"And you didn't join them?", I asked her surprised at the fact that she was still here.
"No, I just thought it would be a good time to visit you in this break", she admitted honestly. Rather she would visit us in their absence than them knowing.
"That's a really amazing thought", Ave muttered clearly audible enough for us to hear. She thankfully ignored it. Alex arrived home soon.
"Dude, I just missed your cooking than you, I could smell it even before entering the house", Alex exclaimed as he entered the house. He stiffened seeing our precious mother in the middle of the house. We three exchanged meaningful looks and Alex greeted her. Avery and I were setting the table for dinner while Alex went to refresh himself. We all sat together in our round dining table and served ourselves with hot soup, fresh salad and Manicotti Casseroles.
"So, how are you guys managing all the allowances?", she enquired us. This is where the mess begins every single time. I don't hate her; more over I will always be grateful to her for giving me two gems from the moment I was born. I clearly know it is not easy to give birth to triplets and take care of them for 5 years without any help. No matter what, she will be in the good side of my heart for those deeds.
"Everything is going well and let's say we got settled in this home better.", I said to make sure that she doesn't question about our income.
"That's great. Avery, how about your studies?", she asked turning to Avery who was sitting next to her.
"I... I discontinued music school and I have applied for sports science department", he said with a little hesitation.
"You discontinued? What's wrong with you? Firstly, you want to join a music school and we arranged it for you and now you don't want that. How long has it been?", she asked bewildered with the new piece of information.
"It's been four months. I got a sponsor in one of the best sports academy and I don't want to miss that. I will focus more in my sports career if I did my under graduation in the same field", he clearly explained her. I haven't seen him so calm with her ever. He is also a year behind us as he didn't apply for colleges due to the training for national level games.
"What about the fee we have paid? You can't be so irresponsible.", she shouted at him. That's one of the reasons he discontinued.
"I have transferred the amount to his bank Account and I will soon be paid for the games that I represent the Academy. So, I don't think, I am irresponsible", he said straight to her face. Alex interrupted before he says something hurtful.
"I guess we should have dessert. Ave could you get them please?", Alex asked politely eyeing him to stay shut. Avery gladly left the table to grab the dessert.
"Why wouldn't you guys talk to him and make him understand that he is not being responsible?", our mother asked before he returned with four cups of dessert.
"I don't think he is being irresponsible by choosing what gives him happiness. Don't you think that's a lifetime gift which most of us fail to get?.", I asked a rhetorical question, giving my brother a supporting hand. She couldn't argue further. Rest of the dinner went without any mess. She left as soon as she got a call which I guess was Romane.
"The dinner went way better than I thought", Alex muttered with a long sigh. He looked way matured with the thick frame glasses and slightly long hair.
I agreed to his words. We both went to look for Avery who was sitting in his room with his legs over the table while leaning back on the chair and dangling them. 'Agree or not, he is the loveliest person among the three of us. He is sweet as honey in the heart'. I went and ruffled his hair.
"Stop that. You are annoying me. I just wanted sometime alone", he said pushing my hands away.
"My bad! I thought we could have some movie time and some fun", Alex said faking his hurt look.
"Yeah Yeah... fine; Al get a movie, I will go, grab the beer cans", he said getting up.
"None of that. You are consuming pain killers dude. No alcohol for you, I can manage with coke", Alex said grabbing him by his shirt collar. Ave slapped his hands away and just rolled his eyes but agreed not to drink. We were watching movie while sharing each of our stories and making fun of it. Avery was checking his phone and suddenly he was so happy.
"She accepted. Could you believe this? Yes!", he was dancing around with enthusiasm.
"You proposed a girl?", Alex asked shocked at his brother. Ave looked back at him confused.
"Proposed? She accepted my follow request which I didn't expect to happen so soon", he said showing all his teeth.
Not once in my life, I had seen him so joyous. He was not this happy even after winning a championship in basketball or racing. I just smiled at the fact that he was not hurt by the end of the day.
