I smiled as I tapped on a photo in my camera roll.
To others, it would just look like a normal selfie, but it made my heartthrob. I missed my sister so much. Ever since my family and I moved to LA a few months ago, I haven't seen her. She stayed back in Vancouver. Where we left from. Thankfully, around the same time that we had decided to move here the Seavey's did as well, so I still had Anna. I was super lucky to not have lost her, I honestly don't know where I would be without her. Glancing up at the clock, I realized that my break had ended. My shift was almost over, I only had like an hour left. I smiled and practically jumped out of my chair, walking out of the kitchen. Today had been a super long day, and I was super excited for it to be over.
My coworker glanced over at me, and I walked a little faster. My break had ended around 5 minutes ago, so they had been waiting for me. I felt a little bit bad, but they were always even later than I was so I just muttered an apology and walked to the counter. As they passed me, they cursed under their breath. I suddenly had the urge to grab them and pin them to the floor. To say I had anger issues was an understatement. Let's just say I don't handle conflict very well, I have an extremely bad temper, and was super sensitive. Two things that do not mix, whatsoever. I gave them a death stare and took my post at the register. My eyes start to water as I start to think of all the things they could've been saying. I take deep breaths to try and steady myself. Closing my eyes, I think of the only thing that ever makes me calm: the ocean. The way the tide rolled in and soaked the sand with its salty texture made me at peace. It was my favorite place in the world. Suddenly, I heard a muffled voice, interrupting my thoughts.
"Hey, you ok?"
My eyes flutter open, and I glance at the person in front of me. I felt like a thousand butterflies were having a meeting in my stomach. He was absolutely gorgeous, even though half of his face was covered by a mask. His eyes struck me like lightning, they were a deep blue color, and strangely reminded me of the waves.
"Oh, yeah sorry, I'm totally fine." I stutter. Wait a second... Was I falling for this stranger? What's wrong with me? I can't even see half of his face. If he was a guy at school it would be different, since I'd probably see him again. But this guy was a customer. I can't catch feelings. Plus, I never get attracted to someone this fast.
"Do you um want anything?" I silently scold myself. nO bElLa, He CaMe tO sEe YoU.
"Nah I just came to get your number." He laughs.
My cheeks start to burn and I feel my palms starting to sweat. No Bella, don't embarrass yourself. Act chill.
"Haha very funny. Sorry, that's not on the menu. Anything else you want?" I answer, surprising myself.
"Aw that's too bad. Just an apple juice please." He responds.
Apple juice? A hot guy like this wants apple juice?! I decide to continue flirting, what's the worst that could happen.
"Ok little one, would you like some fruit slices with that?" Oh no. I think I went too far. But to my surprise, he starts laughing hysterically.
"You're really funny. You sure I can't get your number?"
For a second I hesitate. I know my stepmom wouldn't approve, but I don't really care what she thinks. At the same time, I feel trapped. If I didn't want to give him my number, what would I do? Rudely turn him down? Give him Dominos number instead (classic, ik). But if I'm being honest, I really did want to give him my number. Even though I barely knew him, I feel like we already had a connection. I look him in the eyes and examine his expression. He raises his eyebrows playfully.
"Sure, why not. I'll write it on the cup." I say quickly, before realizing that apple juice boxes don't have cups.
"Umm actually, can you just type your number into my phone?" I ask hesitantly.
"Yeah of course." His eyes squinted, and even though he was wearing a mask, I could tell he was smiling. I hand him my phone and watch as he types it in. Damn. My knees felt like jelly as he looked at me. I could stare into those eyes for hours, I-
"Um I should probably go. Nice meeting you!" He grins through the mask, pays, and walks out of Starbucks. I suddenly realize why he left.
"Bella why are you such an idiot, don't stare at people you just met," I mutter under my breath. Hopefully, he didn't think I was as stupid as I must have looked.{🄼🅈🅂🅃🄴🅁🅈 🄶🅄🅈'🅂 🄿🄾🅅}
I had just left the studio when I realized I was craving apple juice. Like super badly. I didn't even care that the nearest location was a Starbucks (where apple juice is super expensive). Because when Daniel needs apple juice, he needs apple juice. So the first thing I did as soon as I got in my car was drive down to the Starbucks at the end of the block. There were a bunch of teenage girls at the entrance, and I didn't really feel like talking to fans so just in case anyone recognized me, I put a mask on and jogged past them. Thankfully, they didn't notice me, and I got into the building with no problems whatsoever. I sighed in relief. To be honest, I love my fans, and I'm a total extrovert, but sometimes you just want a break from people in general. I start to walk up to the register and then I look up. My mouth drops open and I feel like I'm about to faint.
I started sweating profusely and wiped my forehead with my hoodie sleeve. In front of me was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She had to be around Anna's age, and everything about her was perfect. She was wearing a black cropped shirt with ripped jeans, and a dark green apron layered over it with a silver name tag pinned to the top. Her eyes were light brown, and her hair was long and wavy. After staring at her for what seemed like hours, I realized that she was taking deep breaths. I copied her, trying to calm myself down and took a few steps towards the register.
"Hey, you ok?" I ask nervously.[☁✰☾✰☁]
Hey, How do y'all like it so far? If you like it then lmk by voting! I have plans for the next chapter and I'm so excited to write them. This is a pretty long chapter, so I hope you enjoy it. I know that the first day has been REALLY long but as this story continues I'll make the days shorter.
Love, Rose <3
