Elise Mendez
I woke up my eyes hurt.
Umiyak na naman ako magdamag kagabi. John and I fight about a single little thing. He always found a way for us to fight and to be honest now is not the right time.
My Lolo just got hospitalized and I have summer class as a requirement to my course – Agriculture.
Pagod na ko kasi maghapon kaming nagtatabas kahapon as a land preparation for our crop production then after a long day akala ko makakapahinga na ako but I was wrong.
Anyway, I feel na malapit na kami mag break ni John, I feel it.
Cold sya, matagal mag reply kahit na bakasyon naman nila ngayon and nasa bahay lang nila sya. I know that day will come but please not now. I shrugged the thought and get ready for the class for today.
Louise – my dorm mate/ classmate/ friend and I walk from the gate of our campus to our classroom and waited for the other.
Lagi kaming isa sa na-u-unang pumasok, “the early birds” they say. As our classroom filled with laughter and noises, I still can’t come to my senses. Nakatulala lang ako habang sila masayang nag kukwentuhan.
“Mahal ka din non” Mark – my friend approach me, “ata” he added.
Okay na eh, baliw talaga to.
“Tanga ka, nanahimik na ko ah” I replied to him as I look away again
“Bali naman to ay” he sat beside me
“Umayos ka nga di ako sanay” I looked at him and smile
Bakit nga ba ako nagpapalamon sa lungkot ay kasama ko mga kaibigan ko, with them I feel complete and happy.
“Nanahimik lang ako eh” then I laughed and before I knew I was surrounded with my friends and we laugh until it’s time to be in field again.
Being and agriculture is not that easy, yes walang course na madali, but in agriculture, descrimation is the biggest enemy. We’re discriminated as the “tanim-tanim lang” na course and as “mga amoy lupa”. Don’t get me wrong di ko kinakahiya but being labeled as that is too much.
For your information, agriculture is not tanim – tanim lang, agriculture is a scientific way to plant crops and grow animal and produce their products that provide food for human consumption.
We are studying not to be a farmer but to educate farmer and bring them up to society.
Yes di naka aircon or pang maarte but the future food supply will always depend on us.
Anyways, as day goes by, we are getting ready to leave as Lei – my friend, approach me.
“Kamusta kayo ni John?” She asked, I look at her and just fake my smile
“Pang forever na” I think. She laughed at me and tell me “sana nga” I just shrugged to her and we leave.
But it echoed
"sana nga"
