"I'm sorry ma'am but we don't have any idea where your kids might be. You know teenagers, all they want to do is have fun. The principal's words didn't seem to be convincing at all as he tried to be.

"I'm telling you sir, my kid did not come home yesterday and the only thing I received from him was this text telling me that he was going to be hanging out with a friend of his." James mother said, sobbing as she tried to accept that what the principal said was true.

Mrs Johnson was a woman in her late thirties but her face was deceptive as she still looked young enough to make one fall for her.

"I got the same text from Diane and I think there's something wrong here. It's not like her to stay out without coming back home." Diane's mother said as she sobbed but she trusted her daughter too much to believe that she would run away or something.

The principal had gotten quite confused as to what was going on but he tried to keep calm telling the two worried moms not to think much about it that they will soon unite with their kids.

"Good morning students!" The principal greeted.

As you would notice, James and Diane which am sure are friends with some of you are not in school today. Their parents are here asking if any of you might have seen them somewhere or know where they might be. Please report to my office if you have something to say." There was silence among the students as they listened to the principal, wondering about what could have happened.

Everyone knew James and Diane. They were very popular as they were always seen together. They obviously had some kind of relationship going on but they never believed that they could run away.

"I'm sure we'll find your kids and also make sure to report back to you when we do." The principal said as he headed back to his office after addressing the kids.

The two parents nodded as they left the office crying. They were anxious to get feedback from the principal about their kids.

"If you're friends with James and Diane, please report to the principal's office now. Any information you can provide would be of great help to us." The voice of the principal echoed from the speaker through the entire school, catching the attention of the students.

"My name's Greg and I'm a friend of James. The last time I saw James was when we parted ways after school hours but he didn't tell me anything about where he was going after school. He always goes out with Diane, mostly at night." Greg said as he sat on a chair in the principal's office but obviously, he had no idea where Jake was.

"My name's Christie and I'm a friend of Diane. I'm quite sure I heard her talking to someone on the phone during school hours about meeting up at school later in the night but I'm not sure who it was." Christie was Diane's best friend but she seemed clueless about her whereabouts.

"So you think she met up with someone here at school?" The principal asked, his arms folded as he looked hopefully at the girl seated in his office."

"Umm... I don't know I mean I'm not sure. I just heard her talking on the phone, probably James." Christie stammered as she tried to convince herself that she was right.

"Thanks Christie!" The principal said, looking disappointed, mostly at himself for letting his students go missing.

It was hopeless. No student seemed to know James and Diane's whereabouts, their phones appeared to be switched off... All they could do was pray and hope that they find them.

"We're sorry ma'am but we've searched everywhere but your kids just seem to be missing!"

"Listen to me, detective, you can't tell me that my kid is missing okay. You've got to find them or else I'm going to sue you for your incompetence."
