ERICA'S POV
It felt like I woke up extra early today, even though it was the same time as every other day. It's probably from the lack of sleep I got last night. My mind wouldn't let me sleep. I couldn't stop thinking about that guy, and that damn smirk. I need to get to school and speak to him about seeing me out so late. The only person who gets to know any of my secrets is my best friend Olivia, and boy is she going to be hearing about mystery dude today for sure. I head to my bathroom and take a quick shower before getting dressed and doing my hair and makeup for the day. I went simple with makeup, a brown smoky eye, and a light pink lip. I blow-dried my strawberry blonde hair, and it let it fall into its natural waves today. I felt oddly extra cute today, so I wore my lightly ripped high waisted skinny jeans, a black tee with the words "Educate Yourself" on the front in bold letters. The shirt fit my hourglass body frame nicely. I also put on my brown, heeled, ankle-high lace-up boots. I always kept my nails simple, usually just black.
I wasn't too high maintenance, but I always made sure I took care of myself and put a good face on for my parents and school. My dad has been saving up money for me to attend a really good college, and I intend to make that come true. I grab my over the shoulder black bag, making sure my things were in it for the day, including my phone, charger, wallet, and car keys. I head out of my room and to the kitchen where my parents are. Mom is in the kitchen making breakfast, while Dad at the dining room table drinking coffee. He's on his laptop, probably for work stuff. He had on his reading glasses, which made him look older than he actually was.
"Good morning sweetie." He said when he noticed I entered the room.
"Morning Dad, morning Mom," I respond. My mom gives me a side hug since she had food in her mouth. I grab my reusable water bottle and fill it up with water and ice for the day. Coffee makes me too hyper, and makes it hard for me to focus.
"I made you some avocado toast." My mom tells me, sliding the plate over on the counter towards me. I love avocado toast, especially when my mom makes it, she has magic food making skills that I probably won't ever be able to top.
"Thanks, Mom!" I say happily. I wasn't planning on eating breakfast this morning, so I take it to go. "I'm heading out, see you later! Love ya!" I call to them as I head to my car in the driveway. I hear them both respond with I love yous back to me as I close the door behind me. I rush to my car as fast as I could wearing heels. I plan on waiting in the parking lot at school for mystery boy to show up. I wanted to talk to him before everyone arrived, but honestly, I didn't even know what time he got to school, or if he was even showing up today.
I hop into my white Audi my parents helped buy for me and rush off to school. When I arrive, there were only a few cars in the student parking lot. I decided to park close to the doors. I looked around for his bike but didn't see it anywhere. The sun was feeling warm on my skin, not too hot, so I decided to wait for him to show up while reading a book. I picked a bench to sit on that gave me a good view of the parking lot. Time seemed to fly by at first, I got sucked into my novel, but then students started pulling in to the lot. Every loud vehicle noise I heard had me jerking my head up to see if it was him. I waited what seemed to forever, and the longer I waited, the more my stomach turned. I was nervous to confront him, especially in front of everyone at school.
"Hey, baby." I jump a little as someone hugs me from behind. I was not expecting someone to come up to me, even if it was just my boyfriend. I turn to him, he was wearing a light blue V-neck t-shirt and some blue jeans folded up at the ankle. His usual style for sure.
"Hey Lucas," I say with a smile on my face. He smiled back, but not his normal happy smile. Something was wrong. "Are you okay?" I ask as he walks around and sits on the bench next to me, his hands folded together and put on his lap. I look at his face, and he seemed to be sad and angry at the same time.
