SOUL BONDS AND WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THEM, BY CATHRYN KILCHESTY.  

In her head, she was mentally reading the title of the book out, so she wasn't too suprised when Harry spoke up, but it was clear the others were. 

"Soul Bonds and what we know about them? You have a book on soul bonds? This'll be useful," He walked around the table to peer at the book in Ginny's hands. "Now Hermione won't have to write her own."

Hermione shot him a glare. "Oh, haha, very funny."

He just grinned and raised his hands in the air. "Don't shoot!"

She grinned back and joined in. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't shoot you right now." She said, adopting an American gangster accent. Lily chuckled, but reminded them about the food on the table and so they all seat down to eat. 

After breakfast was done, Harry sat down to read the book, and promised to alert Ginny to any updates, as she pulled Hermione away to their little shared bedroom. 

"What is it Ginny?" She asked patintly.

"I want to see your soulmark. You know, the book says you've got one!" 

Hermione laughed and pulled down her sock slightly, showing the mark. It was an old fashioned padlock, with the key still inside it and stationary fireworks surrounding the outside. Ginny squealed and dived in for a closer look. It was so Hermione, but so Fred. She knew he liked her. 

"Oh, it's beautiful!" 

Hermione smiled slightly, and blushed. "Thank you Ginny. I think that it's quite a nice soulmark, y'know. Of all the ones I could've had." 

"It's wonderful. D'you know the old story that witches and wizards are told when they are young? Her raised eyebrow was Ginny's answer. 

"Ok, well it's not that good but it's something witches and wizards tell their young kids. So, a long long time ago, back when Merlin and Morgana lived, the young King Arthur had just been crowned. He was being told by all his advisors to marry someone, but King or not, he didn't want to marry someone if he didn't know that they were his soulmate. And so Merlin used his magic and helped the King. He made a mark appear on Arthur's skin, and one on his true love's too. When Arthur finally found his love and married her, he was happy knowing that she was his one true love. However, before Merlin cast the spell on Arthur, he tested it on himself, and found his one true love, Morgan La Fay. They say every couple who have a soulmark are the reincarnation of Merlin and Morgan, or Arthur and his un-named love."

"Wow," She said softly. "You're telling me these things are natural as well?"

She nodded her head and then shot up straight. "Harry's found something."

They rushed downstairs, where the boys were sitting on the sofa. Harry held out his book for  Ginny to read - since she was so far away, they weren't able to speak. They couldn't go farther than a couple of meters, but they knew that the stronger their bond got, the further they would be able to go. 

"Wicked," Ginny breathed, and thrust the book at Hermione, who read it aloud. 

Soul bonds are often described as pure and gold. This may be because every soul bond, no mater the power or the stage, have what can only be described as an etheral, glowing force field. When someone attacks, and the two are holding hands or have skin-to-skin human contact, the spell rebounds. This is stronger when the two are sleeping as they are unprotected. Not only that, but the glow heals. It automatially heals any injury of the bonded couple, but they can also will for some-one else to be healed. This needs physical contact, and a lot of mental strength. It can also be very dangerous, although not for small scrapes and bruises but for bigger injuries. It is best not to rely on that function of the bond.

Hermione looked up. Ginny was grinning evilly at them all. "We have to try this!"

Hermione grinned back and took a penknife out of her pocket, and slit a small cut on the back of her wrists.
