This chapter, as shown in the title is settled in Aincrad. I got some parts for the 3rd Progressive book, but I may change it. This is not part of the real story (for now, may change). I saw people do the other Kirisuna moments from the Progressive Novels, like iisquippyy using the Progressive novels as a one-shot (you should read it),but not this one! (but if you happened to read one before you could always tell me :D) Hope you enjoy! (annoyance- as normal, loved your chapter. Here have some hearts <3 <3)
Kirito POV
It was already Christmas Eve. Christmas in Aincrad, the prison that trapped 10 thousand people and killed at least 2 thousand of it's hostages in the last month. Out of the 10 thousand players, 700-800, including me were beta-testers, and 213 players died due to their families trying to take the Nervegear out of their heads. We'd just cleared the fourth field boss, Biceps Archelon, and I guess one step closer to the 4th floor boss, but in reality, my arms should have been dead by now. Why? I just paddled at least a hundred kilometres, with Asuna sitting there with me. Don't take me wrong! She's not heavy, it's just the distance. If this were the beta, my eyes would be sore instead because it was normally designed to be a desert canyon themed place. (The third Progressive novel takes place in a waterway themed place, but according to Kirito it used to be a desert in the beta.) "Hey~ Ki-boy. Wh'ere's A-chan?"
"O-Oh. She said she was going to buy a new hood on this floor."
"Why doen't 'she ju't re'veal her face?"
"Well... I guess the fans."
"We'l mak's sen'se. Sh's got 'sum'" she added bunny fingers, which obviously meant that it was a lot, "fans." She flicked down her menu and messaged someone, "well I gotta go Ki-boy. New cu'tomer. BBBYYYYYEEEE!" She disappeared and on time a hand tapped my shoulder.
"Kirito, are you going?" I looked up to see my temporary partner, Asuna. Her hazel eyes stared at me.
"W-Where?" I gulped, hoping I hadn't chosen the wrong words. You see, the only females in my life were: my aunt, my cousin, Sugu. I would normally add my biological mom, but I had never seen her before she had died in a car crass, so my skill to talking to females? If I were to flick down and look at my skill level for that, it would be straight up... 0 (that's a zero). None. My social skills were bad enough, my girl-talking skills were even worse.
"You know... the Christmas party? ALS and DKB invited most of the front players..." she looked at me and declared, "they didn't invite you didn't they?" I nodded and egged her on.
"You don't have to stay with me you know. I'm a solo-player." I directed my head the other side of Asuna and stared at that direction for some amount of time until Asuna stated,
"I'm not going. Whether you like it or not, I'm not going. Besides, who knows what you'll do when you're alone? Clear the whole floor?" She scoffed, and knowing me well, she knew if I were determined I would actually do it, but nahhh. I wanna rest on Christmas.
"But you aren't a beater like me."
"So..."
"Why-"
"I don't like the way this conversation is going Kirito..." she said.
"-are you in a party with me? A person like you could make it into the guild and make it better, or you could make a guild which could easily surpass ALS and DKB." I asked.
"Then why don't you make a guild?! Stop complimenting me, that I'm a good leader or something! You're good partner, you have beta knowledge, you are desperate to help people, then why don't you?!" I saw trickles of clear liquid slowly fall out of my partner's eyes. "Get stronger. Until one day... you can tell me, and other frightened people like me, that you are sure... Aincrad will be cleared. S-So get stronger. For people like me, who are determined to clear the game, but are too scared. That's all I ask for." By the end of this, she was on the floor, practically begging. Honestly, I was speechless. The determined warrior, telling me to clear the prison in the sky, that had trapped both me and her and another 9,998 players. I wiped her tears, and what surprised even me, was that I didn't hesitate. Not even for a second. My partner's hazel eyes looked up to me, her newly-replaced, crimson hood, which used to cover her head fell back to her back. I bent down, onto my knees, for the conversation to become a face-to-face conversation.
