Falling asleep on the train HC

A/N: Hi! This was much longer than expected but I'm obsessed with it and I think it's so cute. There's not enough train ride fanfics/imagines/headcannons so I figured I'd write a lil one. Enjoy :) Also when I shift... this better happen. i will cry if it doesn't.

You and Draco get on the Hogwarts Express and look for a compartmentHis friends wanted to sit with him, but he hadn't got to see you all summer and didn't want to wait any longer, so he finds an empty carriage and ushers you inside itOnce inside, he sits down next to you and takes your hand in hisYou're all excited to go back to Hogwarts and you're staring out the window as the train starts movingDraco thinks you're the cutest thing he's ever laid eyes on He's missed you so much, and he tells you this, making you blush"I missed you too," you tell him. Now it's his turn to blush
After the initial excitement has died down, Draco starts to notice the bags under your eyes."When did you go to bed, darling?" he asks you, knowing full well that you didn't get enough sleep the night prior
You explain to him that you were just too excited and were only able to get a couple hours of sleepDraco wants to scold you, but decides against it. Instead, he pulls you close and presses a kiss to your head."Well, we do have a few hours until we're at Hogwarts...why don't you take a nap?" he suggests.
You immediately tell him no"I want to stay up and talk to you, tell me about your summer," you say, making Draco smile.
He knows how stubborn you are, so he sighs and begins to tell you about his summer.While he's droning on about a dinner party that his mother hosted, he notices you've gone rather silentHe looks down and sees your eyes fluttering shut, then quickly reopening as you catch yourself drifting into sleepDraco stops the story he was telling and says, "Come here, love." You're confused as he picks you up and sits you on his lap. He holds you close as he scoots backwards and leans against the wall/window. He straightens his legs and wraps his arms around your backYou get the hint and even though you don't want to sleep, you know you can't stay awake much longerSo you plant your knees on either side of his hips and sit on his lap. Then you let your head rest on his chest and pull your arms to your on chest. His arms keep you still and secure against him as he plants soft kisses to your head."That's it sweetheart. I've got you."
Within minutes you're fast asleep and Draco is very pleased with himself.The rest of the train ride he only focuses on you and makes sure that after every bump they hit, you're still peacefully sleeping.At one point, Blaise comes into your guys' compartment and Draco immediately glares at him and even though he doesn't say anything, Blaise understands and leaves just as fast as he cameDraco is literally so protective over youLet's say you do wake up. Maybe it's from a loud noise or a particularly big bump. You're obviously startled and you lift your head up and try to remember where you are.Draco shushes you gently and turns your head to look at him."You're safe, go back to sleep, darling. We'll be at Hogwarts before you know it, but for now, you still need rest."
You try to protest and say that you've had a long enough nap, but Draco doesn't care. He guides your head back to his chest and begins playing with your hairThe action is so soothing and you're out again before you even know itDraco's heart just swells at how adorable you are, your cheek all squished up from sleeping on him. He wishes he had a camera with him, but since he doesn't, he commits the image to memory and just holds you close.
