the sound of hurried footsteps caught seungmin's attention before he could proceed to attend his class.

under normal circumstances, jisung would run up to him with a wide heart-warming smile, begging for kisses and hugs and whispering sweet little nothings into his ear.

but today— today was different.

jisung was angry. very angry.

it wasn't an everyday sight. infact, jisung was comparitively more cool-headed than seungmin, changbin and jeongin combined.

seungmin suspected the boy was frustrated because of football practice, he had a lot of pressure on him since he was the captain.

the blonde sighed. if he could, he would've gone up to him and cheered him up. however, he wasn't in the right headspace at the moment.

his conversation with hyunjin the day before was still engraved in his mind, it remained there like a fresh wound, and it still hurt.

it was unbearable. the young lad couldn't deny that a part of him had hoped hyunjin would apologize and try to win him back. the raven haired male had previously made it clear that he had liked him.

was it over now?

seungmin feared hyunjin had lost interest in him. this was pathetic. he should've been relieved. it was over, hyunjin wouldn't disturb him now. he could quitely go back and live the dream-like life he had with his jisung.

but he didn't want it anymore.

he shook his head, hoping it would shake those ridiculous thoughts away too.

what was he thinking about again? right, jisung.

he stared at his ex boyfriend, a little taken aback that he had completely ignored him. he was walking elsewhere.

seungmin frowned, noticing minho behind— equally angry.

did he miss something?

the two walked furiously, down the large hallway, capturing curious gazes from passerbys— seungmin and changbin included.

he watched the two stop infront of someone, it was—

it was disorienting at first. seungmin heard gasps and screams of suprise as he ran past the now forming crowed to stop jisung from breaking hwang hyunjin's face.

"YOU FUCKING BASTARD! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!?", he heard his ex boyfriend scream as he kicked the raven haired male's stomach.

seungmin's vision blurred as tears formed in his eyes.

he knew. han jisung knew.

and the most terrible part was that he wasn't crying because of jisung, but because of hyunjin.

he hated it. he hated hyunjin getting hurt like that. he hated ruining hyunjin's only friendship. he hated treating hyunjin like a crazy animal before.

seungmin had realised that in a strange fucked up way.  he was in love with—

hyunjin groaned in pain as jisung kicked his leg before grabbing his hair and landing presumably the sixth punch of his now swollen and bleeding face.

god, it was no suprise that the athletic male was a good fighter.

"stop!", he pleaded, not wanting the man to suffer any more. it was painful to even watch, god knows how bad hyunjin was feeling.

"DON'T TOUCH ME, YOU LYING, CHEATING WHORE!", jisung snapped, making seungmin flinch and let go off of his hand.

the infuriated male turned back to his so-called 'best friend', ready to deliver another punch. "YOU—"

"YES I DID! I TOOK YOUR BOYFRIEND'S VIRGINITY AWAY! I TOOK WHAT HE HAD THROWN AT YOU THAT NIGHT WILLINGLY!", hyunjin yelled, equally furious as he blocked his friend's powerful attack.

everyone stared at him in fright, shocked by the sudden outburst. hyunjin scoffed, wiping the blood dripping down from the corner of his lips.

"he gave you so many fucking chances! admit it jisung, you took him for granted! he was willing to forgive you even after you fucked his best friend. do you even love him!? you treat him like a freaking pet! you only care when you feel threatened that someone is going to steal him! you can call him a whore and call me a backstabber but don't be surprised that he left your side. you do not deserve someone like kim seungmin anyway."

seungmin couldn't believe how much those words affected him. he felt warm inside out. his tear-stained cheeks heated up, and he found himself sobbing for reasons unknown as he stared at the bruised boy's face.

jisung seemed... shocked, to say the least. it was pretty much impossible for his anger to just evaporate like that, but believe it or not, for a second it really did.

"i thought we were best friends.", jisung spoke, he had definitely tried to sound harsh but his voice broke.

hyunjin's expression seemed to soften. "for that, jisung... i'm really sorry. you truly are my best friend, it just fucking sucks that i'm madly in love with seungmin."

...

"oh my god.", seungmin blurted out. he couldn't keep that reaction inside himself and no one else did either. even minho's jaw dropped.

love. hyunjin loved him. hyunjin said he loved him infront of the whole fucking school.

seungmin felt like melting. it was too overwhelming for him to handle. he hoped he would collapse and use it to avoid the situation altogether.

"i-i—", jisung stuttered, so suprised that he failed to make sense at first. however, the pain in his eyes restored within a fraction of seconds.

"i will never forgive you for what you did. fuck you, hyunjin—"

"— this is exactly why your dad hates you and your mom left you."

another series of gasps and whispers erupted in the crowd.

seungmin swore he saw hyunjin's eyes water before he blinked them back to normal.

"that's enough, han jisung.", he heard himself speak as he stood between the two boys, his back facing hyunjin and his angry gaze directed at jisung.

if a few months ago, someone would've said seungmin would go against jisung to defend hwang hyunjin, the blonde boy would've laughed.

the brunette scoffed in disbelief before turning around and leaving, minho following behind him like a loyal guard dog.

the crowd cleared and seungmin instantly found himself engulfing hyunjin into a hug.

it wasn't sexual like most of their interactions, just two lost souls searching for comfort in each other.

the hug lasted long, but not enough. the warmth hyunjin gave off was addicting, seungmin didn't want to separate at all.

"seungmin.", he heard the taller cough before tearing himself away. seungmin stared at him intently, he didn't realise that his cheeks and nose were red and his puppy eyes were still watery.

hyunjin took in a sharp breath,

"let's not see each other again."
