"So your telling me that a vampire saved you from another vampire?" Emily asked Rose as they walked through the girl's dorm, "That's hard to believe."
"I'm telling you that's what happened!" Rose said as she tried to convince her best friend of the events from a few nights ago, "I don't know why he did but he killed the vampire like it was nothing."
"Ok calm down I believe you." Emily told her with a reassuring smile. Rose knew that she didn't really believe her but decided that it wasn't worth arguing about. They were making their way out of the dorm as they heard the morning bell signaling that classes were about to begin. The two started to run to keep from being late and saw a guy nonchalantly walking through the courtyard.
"Are you trying to be late?!" Rose asked as they stopped in front of him, "Classes are about to start!"
"I'll be fine." He told them as he continued to walk towards the main building, "I'm new here so I don't have any classes to get to."
"Alright but you still shouldn't take too long getting to the office. The teachers can be pretty strict." Emily told him as she began to drag Rose behind her. Something about him seemed familiar to Rose but she didn't know what. Alex watched the two girls run at full speed into the building and shook his head. He walked inside and made his way to the main office, examining the hallways as he did.
"Of course my first class is on vampires." Alex said aloud as he read his schedule. He made his way to his class and opened the door.
"May I ask who you are?" The professor asked him as he stopped his speech about human and vampire interactions. He was a middle aged man with short graying hair.
"Hello my name is Alex. I just started here and had to get my schedule from the office." He explained and handed the professor his schedule. The man read over it and handed it back to him.
"You can call me Ryan or Professor and I expect you to be here by eight sharp from now on. You can take the seat next to Rose and Emily up there." Ryan told him and pointed up to the empty seat next to the two girls. Alex nodded and went to his seat. He pulled a notebook and pencil from his bag as the two girls looked at him.
"Now that I've gotten a better look at him he's pretty cute." Emily whispered to her friend. Rose shook her head and turned her attention to their professor again. They spent the rest of class listening to his pointless ramblings and thanked whatever God that was listening that the bell rang. Rose examined Alex again and realized by his hoodie why he seemed so familiar.
"That's the guy that saved me." Rose whispered to Emily as they watched Alex walk out of the classroom.
"How do you know?" Emily asked he as they walked to their next class. Rose stopped outside of the classroom door and turned to her.
"Just a feeling." Rose said as she put her hand on the door handle, "Let's ask him after school."
"The seems like a bad idea but you don't normally do anything risky so I'm down." Emily told her as they walked into the room and took their seats. With the exception of seeing Alex in their first class the day went as boring as usual. They left the building with the giant crowd of students and began looking for him. Alex looked at the paperwork the office gave him and was trying to find the boy's dorm when someone tapped on his shoulder.
"You're the girls from this morning." Alex said as he turned to see who was touching him. Rose and Emily nodded and looked at his hoodie.
"Can we talk in private?" Rose asked him as they locked eyes. Alex looked confused but followed them anyways. They walked into an area between two of the buildings. He watched as they checked to see if they were alone.
"What's up?" Alex asked them as they walked back over to him. Emily stepped back and gave Rose the floor. Alex had already figured that she was going to ask about what happened the other night. He knew he should have stayed out of it but he couldn't let her die like that.
"You're the guy who saved me the other night aren't you?" Rose asked him as she got closer to his face.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Alex told her as he leaned back, surprised by her sudden invasion of his personal space.
"You have the same hoodie, voice and eyes as the guy who saved me. That can't be a coincidence." Rose said as she poked his chest. Emily wasn't used to Rose being so assertive, especially when talking to guys. Alex sighed and his face turned serious. Rose stepped back, scared that she may have made a mistake.
"Yes I am." He said before laughing at their faces, "I don't have any idea what the hell you're talking about but I'll keep this between us."
"I'm sorry for bothering you." Emily told him as she dragged Rose away. Alex walked towards his dorm hoping that had cleared him of anymore problems.
