My eyes snap open to the faint smell of fire or burning. I jump out of my bed and sprint to the kitchen. Once I get to my kitchen I see a body with its back to me so I cant see their face. What is one to do other than think it’s an intruder?

“Umm who the fuck are you and why are you trying to burn down my kitchen?” I said with lots of sass. To be frank it was just toast that was burning but I needed to know who needed a cooking lesson.

The body turned around to show a smirking Gino.

“What the fuck are you doing in my apartment at” I looked at my phone that was in my hand in case I needed to call the police. “6:30 in the fucking morning”

“Chill out I was just making breakfast for you so you aren’t all weak went we start packing” he defended. I walked over to my counter and unplugged the toaster angrily. I don’t need anyone burning down my apartment right now. Wait a damn minute… packing?

“What do you mean packing?” I said to Gino in a questioning voice.

“Well your moving in with us did you really think we were going to let you stay living here while doing this job? No this is dangerous” he laughed out, turning back to the eggs he was making.

“Umm yeah because I still have two months on my lease so no I’m not moving in with you.” I’m holding my ground I can’t move in with the mafia.

“Well you don’t really have a choice so I would start eating cause we have a long day of packing ahead of us,” he said while placing a plate of bacon burnt toast, and eggs in front of me.

“God, you guys are running my life. Do you have any idea how bad my commute from your place to work is going to be?” I mumbled.

“No I don’t because it won’t happen you quit this morning.” he blankly said as he sat down next to me.

“What does that mean” I turned to see him eating a plate of food too. He doesn’t deserve that plate when he is standing running my life.

“Well I went in and quit for you with a formal letter to your boss”

Without finishing my food I stomped to my room and locked the door. I got dressed in a pair of light jeans with a black and white top, the center was laced together.

Did I really want to fight with the mafia? They were taking everything that I had built for the last 3 years. I didn’t want them to take it all away but what choice did I have. I decided that it was better to not fight with them and just go along with it, I mean what could happen it cant be as bad as what I went through so… I guess I’m packing now.

I ran over to my closet where I still had some boxes from when I first moved in. I grabbed them and stormed to the kitchen and ramed them into Gino’s chest.

“If I’m going to pack you are doing 100% of the lifting work okay?’ I demanded.

“Fine, but what’s with the outfit?” he questioned motioning up and down my body.

“It’s my normal wardrobe if you don’t believe me they come to help me pack my closet won’t ya?” putting my hand on my hip with sass.

The rest of the day was mostly Gino and me just jamming to music. I found out that he listens to the same kinds of music as me, it’s really diverse. There was an Arctic Monkeys phase of music and then some Suicide boys but with all the talking it kind of faded away.

We talked about many things from his sister that lives in LA to how he go to where he is and how he’s second in command. He was in some pretty heavy debt and Enzo pulled him out, but not without pulling him into this business. Gino didn’t mind though because from what I can tell he was made for this job.

Tapping up the last box I looked around to see the patch in the wall where I came stumbling in one night and fell. Tears came to my eyes just thinking of what I was leaving.

“Hey don’t cry this is all the past and like you told me it’s better if you leave the past where it is, in the past,” Gino said side hugging me and pulling out to his car which was an Audi A4 B8. I dabbled in cars a little where I used to live.

By that, I meant before I decided to be the shy city girl I am now I did a little street racing to get money when needed. I usually went with my Nissan 370z but that was more for racing.

Anyways like he said it’s all in the past, just like my life.
