All credit to Kiera Cass. If I were the author, I wouldn't be on here writing fan fiction, now would I?
*This is effective for all chapters to come.*

"sweetie, I know this isn't what you want. But what would we say, you don't want to lead your people? I don't think that would make things any better. I'm sorry, but we really need you to do this for us. And maybe, you can find a lovely girl that can change your mind, yeah?"

I turned away, smiling sadly. I knew mom was right. Dad was so stressed all the time. I just wish Ahren could do it. He would be a great King. Even Eadlyn, I know she hates being the center of attention, but she could do it, if she wanted. But she'd never go for it. I knew that. It was part of why I liked her, though I would never admit that. Not to anyone, and most importantly, not to Eadlyn.

I shook my head, drawing myself back to the present.

"Okay, okay, i'll do it. Just, can we have a few conditions please?" Dad, who had been sitting at my desk chair, working, while my mother was talking, looked up and nodded to me.

    "Well, what were you thinking?"

“First off, I get to pick the selected.” Mom nodded, while Dad smiled slightly. Mom waved my on after a second, waiting for the rest.

“Second, I want the girls to be able to leave, if they want. And, if I don't find the right girl within the first two months, we end it, and I find her my own way.” I knew dad wouldn’t be happy about that one, and was glad that mom spoke first.

“Kile, the first two, they are reasonable. But . . .”

“Your mother’s right, that last one won’t go over well. I understand your fear, but every prince has found their wife in a selection. What if, you,” he paused for a moment, trying to find the right words I could tell. “What if you had a sort of backup? Like, Eadlyn maybe. If you could convince her to enter the selection, then she can be there. If you find someone else, this will still be a good option to learn her, no? You spend much more time with Ahren than anyone else, but this would be good. If you don’t find the right girl, she can be Queen, you rule together as friends. Would, that, work for you?”

He looked as if he was calculating, trying to find out what I would say. And that was a reasonable thought, I realised, because I didn’t know how to react either. Eadlyn, with me, my wife. I’d never thought like that. I could feel the heat on my cheeks, and turned away before I remembered my parents were still waiting for me to answer.

“Yeah, o-okay. I can talk to her I guess.” I surrender, stumbling a bit. Trying not to embarrass myself further, I looked down. That would be a very interesting conversation. Eadlyn hated birthday’s, I don’t know what I'd say to get her to agree to a potential wedding.

Mom nodded, a small smile on her face. She came over to me where I sat at the edge of my bed, giving me a small hug.

“Im proud of you. I know your father is too, even if he hides it well.” As she pulled away, she said louder, “I hear Josie is upset about a tiara or other, should we head to her room for a moment?” addressing Father. He nodded, and they left my room together.

I groaned. I’m never going to convince Eadlyn.

I know its not the best, and its short, but it is the first chapter. As more excitement comes, they should be longer. I dont know when ill update for sure, but ill try to update frequently.
