Common Lies

Chapter three : Salvation

                   Words made of joy and glee
                   Morals swimming in this sea
                     I heard everyone's  plea
                     Here is the chapter three
  
        Naunet was an Egyptian damsel who belonged to the Egyptian Artisans during the new kingdom (about 1600 to 1100 B.C.E), she was named after a very famous mythical goddess (the goddess of ocean) that was worshiped in Ancient Egypt , it was believed that she was the goddess who endued the Nile River to the inhabitants of Egypt.

          As it is known back then, the new kingdom in ancient Egypt society was divided into social classes, and the Artisans represented the fifth class in the social pyramid.However, the artisans were better treated and appreciated than the peasants.

            Naunet was specialized in producing the statues (stone carver), and the stone carvers were known for being the skilled Artisans. Naunet was gifted , all the citizens were surprised and delighted by her skills, and with time, she started making a name and reputation for herself, the government and priests heard of her, and they started calling her to their houses in order to make statues for them, they all liked her job, everyone was satisfied with what she was making .
  
        Her parents were artisans too, they were also talented and skilled, as they managed to work in the Pharaoh's court. Their daughter always looked at her parents as her guidance in life, she was determined to work by their side in the pharaoh's court one day .

     Naunet's potential enticed a group of skilled artisans who were working in the temples , and they were determined to bring the talented girl as a member of their team, she saw this as a head start and opportunity to fulfill her dreams.

      Naunet accepted the team's invitation with warmth and enthusiasm, the group were about her age( 20 to 24), and that explains the chemistry between them, they worked together in numerous occasions and events , the group with Naunet flourished and sparkled , they became very famous that the pharaoh himself invited them to his court. Naunet was delighted , she would work alongside with her parents , they were grateful and proud to see their daughter becoming the one of artisans that represented the elite back in that time.

        Unfortunately, the glee came to an end, Naunet's parents services were no longer beneficial and needed to the pharaoh as he had Naunet and her group , thus, he was forced to expel and abandon on her parents. Naunet was irritated , she begged the pharaoh to consider his decision , be he refused and threatened to expel her team too. In the shadow of what happened, Naunet was upset, her dream to work with her parents vanished , they never blamed her though, in fact, they supported her more and more. Naunet became so talented that she saw herself better off without her teammates , she decided to secretly meet the pharaoh in order to ask him for expelling her group , the pharaoh corresponded to her motion and agreed.

    The other day, the pharaoh invited the team to inform them that they are no longer useful , and he abandoned their services except for Naunet, they were vexed , and they kept asking the pharaoh for a second chance , but he was determined and did not consider their words

     Akil, was the head of the group , his wife was a servant in the pharaoh's temple, she heard that was a secret meeting between the pharaoh and Naunet, and she was the one that suggested the team's expulsion. Akil was stunned , he never believed that Naunet the very nice lady would be wicked , he told the others in the group and they were shocked . One of them was named Seth , his parents were poor and sick , and losing his job, meant the end of his parents. After two  months since he lost his job his parents died , he went straight to Naunet and started blaming her for being the main reason that led to his parents' death. Naunet did not care , she just left him without saying a word.

     Years passed , Naunet continued to work at the pharaoh's court , even after he died, she served his successor, and like his father, he loved her art pieces. Naunet became 30 years old , unmarried and lonely , she began to feel hollow, she realized that the best days of her life were the days she spent with her team, that is why she decided to gather them again to inform them that they are welcomed again to work along her side , unfortunately, no one of them accepted the invitation.
  
     Naunet never gave up , she went to Akil's house , she kept knocking on his door but he did not open, but she was a stubborn and she stood at his doorstep until the next morning. When Akil opened the door he found her there, but he asked her to leave because she is not welcomed in there, however she did not listen and she grabbed his hand begging him to listen to her, she explained that she had changed and she is ready to apologize. Akil would then tell her that he would accept that at one condition, which was only if Seth forgave her. Naunet went straight to look for Seth , she asked those who know him were he would be, she was told that he would be by the river fishing. She ran straight to the river , where Seth was  absent-minded and looked very depressed and bleak. Naunet tried to talk to him but he ghosted her like she was not even there, she kept trying , until he eventually started talking and blaming her again for being the reason of his  parents' death, she told him that she is ready to do everything for him in order to enhance things between them, Seth would then tell her that he will forgive her at one cost , she asked hopefully, but he would ask her to do the impossible, bringing his parents back to life .

   Helpless and powerless , Naunet begged Seth to ask for something possible to fulfill, Seth would then say :
'' I will ask for something possible when you ask me to do something reasonable like forgiving you''

  Naunet , in that specific moment , she realized the huge error she committed , she realized that some gaffes can be unforgivable, she managed to bring back two of her teammates (Mandisa and Osiris) because they could see that Naunet changed, the team was back to work, but Naunet could never forget about Seth, therefore, she decided to give half of her incomes to him, but he never accepted her coins, because he saw that as if she was trying to buy his amnesty , he told her to stop asking about him and to move on with her life.

    Naunet was in a sorrowful state , she could not repel the feeling of being unforgiven by her friend, she would then retire , and while passing the rest of her life alone, she had time to consider that salvation can not be found even if she forgave herself, because salvation layed within the person she hurt the most.
