"Lynn, come on you gotta hurry or we won't catch the plane." My cousin Keijah(kee-jaa) yelled from the loading dock. We were heading to Los Angeles to see my big brother Deandre who is a member of the los Angeles Clippers. I had just started college and basketball season is right around the corner. And I need help,so I called up my big bro and he was happy that I was actually seeking help from him. Never in a million years had I thought this day would come.
"Girl don't rush me,I promise you they ain't gone leave." I yelled back catching up with her. We got boarded to the plane and were off to California.
A few hours later we arrived at the airport. While searching for our bags I heard someone yell,"Lee,Lee!" And little do you know it was my big headed brother Deandre who I love so much. "DJ!" I ran and jumped in his arms. I always wondered how I got the short gene and he got the tall one. Maybe the difference in mother's.
"I'm so glad you made it! Ready learn some professional basketball with some professional help?" He asked sticking his chest out like he's superman. "You bet! Now let's go!" I said. After greeting Keijah he help load our bags onto his truck and we were off to their training facility to meet some players.
Arriving there DJ hopped out and led us inside to introduce us. After a while DJ had left to go to the bathroom while I was sitting in a chair minding my own business. All of a sudden I see this huge shadow in front of me and immediately thought it was DJ,"Boy,if you don't get out my light imma knock those beady eyes out yo head." I said without looking up. The figure didn't move.
" Boy if you don't-" I looked up and was cut off by the one and only....Blake Griffin.
"No need to be so hostile I'll move....once I get your name gorgeous." He smiled. Oh my god I felt my heart rate increase.
"Um...I'm Lynn." I said nervously. Damn nerves! "Well Lynn may I ask why you're sitting here alone....I'm sure no man would turn down the chance to come talk to a pretty face like yours." He said.
I'm so fan-girling over him and his deep voice! "They don't come over because they know my brother wouldn't allow them to." I said. "Brother?" He asked. Oh he doesn't know that his friends sister is sitting in front of him. Wow.
"Yeah my brother Deandre." I said as he made a confused face and then realization hit and he smiled. Damn now he's gonna not get close to me because of my brother.
"Oh...so you're that Lynn I forgot he told me his little sister was coming to town. Gosh! I didn't even recognize you from the photos. You looked way younger. So you're in town for basketball lesson right?" He asked.
"Yeah." I responded.
" This is gonna be fun." He said.
"How so?" I asked feeling a little curious as to where he's getting at.
"I'm your new mentor." He stated nonchalantly.
"What!?!" I exclaimed. I didn't know what he was talking about, but I knew I wouldn't get through one practice without ripping his clothes off. But how? I thought my brother was going to help me.
"No need to be so excited about me helping you out." He said sarcastically.
"Sorry...I'm just so confused. My brother didn't tell me that you were helping me practice." I said.
"Yeah, he asked me to help out since the things you needed to learn we're out of his element and I figured it would be a good way to help a friend and his loved one out." He shrugged.
"Oh...well-" I was cut off by my loud mouth brother.
"Blake I've seen you met your new mentee, and my little sister." I hated being called the little sister. I love my brother, but I'm grown now and that little sister shit gone have to go. It runs away all the boys and I hope it doesn't run Blake away. I want him to feel comfortable around me. See me as a friend and not just friend's little sister.
