My name is Ilija.
I really like singing, and music is a great part of my life (like it is for the most of us). The escape from reality we live in.
Anyway, I recently applied for a singing contest, which is well known - X Factor.
I'm from Serbia, and over here, X Factor is called X Factor Adria, because of the Adriatic sea on the west of the Balkan peninsula.
This show is respected here, and many great talents show up, and it takes great skills to be recognized.
Last year I didn't apply because of my stage fright. Since then - many things happened. People have been telling me I'm a great singer, and I also played in a big school play (When I say big I mean "TV and multiple performances involved" big. Yeah. That big).
Like I was saying. I started changing, becoming braver. And so here I am.
I applied. About a month and a half ago. I waited for the response and finally got it.
I have a friend that competed last year, Anastasia, a great friend and an awesome singer (a jaw opening voice). She sort of explained me what it could look like going there.
"You'll meet great people, and you'll have a lot of fun. We sang together plenty of times, you have nothing to worry about. Just enjoy and embrace the moment."
She is one of the main reasons and someone who encouraged me the most to do this.
"First you'll have a pre-audition. Just sort of a test for your skills. And then the audition - the one whose footage goes on TV. That's where you should blow their minds."
And today I found out the time and date to my pre-audition. 13.02. at 9am. And I still don't have any instrumental from the songs I'm going to sing! I have 14 days to get those. Smells like a race with time to me, the X Factor Adria is a lot closer than I think, that fact gives me chills.
Someone would say that 14 days is "just enough time to get those instrumentals". It would be. But not for me.
Both me, you, and everyone else should have in mind that at this moment I am involved in a single school play, a Serbian history association, and a play that's being performed under the name of the association. Also including preparations for the school choir performance, a dance performance and a short movie filming preparations. Not to mention that I train rugby 4 days a week.
So it will be a race with time. Hopefully it'll be interesting and, which is more important, it will hopefully end well for me.
