A deep baritone voice was heard. A voice that was all too familiar to Jeong Hyeok.
"Both of you are getting engaged tonight. Where the hell do you think you are going? Rooms empty. No note."
Did he just say both of them are getting engaged?
Seri and Jeong Hyeok was at a loss for words when they heard what Jeong Hyeok's father said. Shocked was painted all over their face. For two whole minutes, they looked at each other then looked at the chairman of Vast before looking at each other again.
"Abeoji... What - uhm ah"
"Speak clearly, Jeong Hyeok."
Jeong Hyeok cleared his throat before directing his gaze towards his father, "Abeoji, did I hear it correctly that both of us are getting engaged? Me and Seri?"
"That is correct. You are getting married to this lovely lady with you."
Seri held Jeong Hyeok's hand before stepping forward to speak for the both of them, "How did it come to be, Abeonim? and apparently all this time you knew of our relationship?"
"Your marriage has been arranged from the moment you were born. Your father and I have been long time friends and Queens was going through a rough patch, of course, Vast came to help. That act strengthened our bond in business and your marriage will unite not only two businesses but two families. As for your relationship, we knew about it only a few days ago. Yoon Hui and Jeong Yeon had a hunch already when they got word of the both of you going to LA but we were able to confirm it when both of you went to Switzerland. In LA, both of you were spotted doing grocery while In Switzerland, you were spotted having dinner just the two of you. I was supposed to fetch Jeong Hyeok in his room when you saw me in the elevator earlier and inform you both of your engagement to clear the air."
Thoughts are running wild across Seri's head but the one that made her definitely irritated is the fact that her ankles are hurting right now because they had to run away together only to know that she is getting engaged to the love of her life.
She tried her best to calm herself before bowing respectfully to her future father-in-law and introducing herself.
"I am Yoon Seri. Yoon Jeung Pyeong and Han Jeong Yeon's daughter. It's nice to meet you, Abeonim."
"Pleased to finally meet you. You have grown into a wonderful young lady, Seri-ya. Welcome to the family, dear daughter."
A ghost of a smile played across his lips as Jeong Hyeok observed Seri and his father share a hug.
The guards started to distance themselves and give the three of them some privacy. Cheong Ryeol continued to converse with the pair in front of him, still in disbelief that fate played its part well. He wasn't a believer of those shenanigans but this shit is definitely one for the books.
Tension finally went down, and the trio went inside along with the guards but Jeong Hyeok was wearing a somber expression as they enter the building once again
Why?
Because his father has stolen Seri from him. Ri Cheong Ryeol is now walking side by side with his fianceé, conversing excitedly with her. All his life not once has Jeong Hyeok has seen his father grin from ear to ear but here he is now smiling while talking to his future daughter-in-law.
