The distant sound of a bell ringing brought me back to reality after the trance I'd been stuck in. Soon I realised it was the late bell and I started running again- careful of where I was going this time.

I reached my English class out of breath and slightly pink and handed my late pass to the teacher. Everyone was staring at me, I knew they were, even though I was still faced towards my new, grey haired teacher who had a crinkled suit and smelled slightly of ham.

"Class, this is our new student. Be welcoming and yada-yada-yada." He said with a monotone voice. I smiled nervously at the class and they did all seem welcoming.

Mr King pointed out a spare seat for me to sit in, they were partner desks. Great. Of course my seat would be right next to the boy who I'd managed to annoy within the first five minutes of being at school.

Quickly, I walked to my seat with my head down and got out the few bits of equipment I had. I could feel the unexplained anger coming off of him- I'd said sorry?! What more could I do?

Mr King was a very... relaxed, teacher. Our work for that lesson was to talk to our partners about English. I glanced around the room and everyone was obviously used to this sort of thing, as they were all chatting away and from what I heard none of it was about English.

I turned to face the boy, intending to speak, but his attractiveness caught me off guard. I hadn't remembered his face very clearly, it was a blur, and most of what I'd remembered was how angry he'd looked. After a long moment I managed to say a word. "Hi."

"Hello." He said in response, still looking forward angrily at the chalk board.

"Look, about this morning, I... I didn't mean to run into you I was just-"

"Didn't I tell you not to worry about it?!" He interrupted now glaring at me. I didn't know what to say. I was a little bit too frightened of his expression to be able to think clearly. He still glared at me but after a while looked away again sharply, and it was then that I could think of something to say.

"Yeah.... Sorry. I'm Elsa." I almost whispered because I was still scared of what his response would be. It was just as stubborn as everything else he'd said.

"How lovely for you." He said through gritted teeth. What was his problem?

Suddenly a light tap on my shoulder made me jump. I turned around to see a pretty, blonde girl smiling at me. "You won't get much out of him, he's kind of a loner because of his 'anger issues'." She said, probably loud enough for the boy to hear, but she didn't seem phased.

"Shut up Rapunzel." He'd heard.

"You're rude, you know that?" She asked fearlessly. He didn't respond but he sighed and I think I saw his eyes roll. "That's Jack by the way, seeing as he so rudely ignored your OBVIOUS attempt at getting his name." She still smiled, not bothered by the death stare, Jack, gave her. I probably would've fainted if he'd gave me that stare.

"You can come sit with Eugene and I if you like. I'm Rapunzel, in case you didn't catch that from Jack's stubborn comment." She looked angrily in Jack's direction. I know I shouldn't have, but I felt sorry for Jack. Maybe he was made stubborn as a result of the way people treated him. I wanted to find out more about him. I wanted to know why he was this stubborn. I wanted to know who he was.
