We'd just returned from Mexico, and we followed Stiles and Scott into the animal clinic to meet Deaton as they carry a teenage Derek into the animal clinic.

We placed Derek's body on a table, and Deaton looked at him. "Wow."

"Wow? Wow as in I've seen this before and I know exactly what to do kind of wow?" Stiles asked. "Because that's the kind of wow we were hoping for."

"I think you might be overestimating my abilities," Deaton says.

"He's cold," Lydia stated. "He's freezing."

"Do you think is permanent?" Scott asked.

"I'm not even sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate," Deaton says checking Derek's eyes with a little light. "This is well beyond my experience."

"So what do we do with him?" Stiles asked.

"Until he wakes up? Probably not much. It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here." Deaton said.

"You mean from Kate?"

"If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past the gate."

"Why would she want to do this to him?" Lydia asked.

"Knowing Kate, it's probably for a reason that won't be any good for anyone, "Deaton mumbled.

I scoffed "And bad for everyone else."

"You guys should go home. He doesn't look like to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep." Deaton said looking at all of us. " It's a school night. And you all need to start taking care of your own lives again."

"Someone should stay with you," Scott stated.

"I'll stay," Lydia volunteered, with a small shrug. "My grades are fine. Despite missing a few classes."

"I'm so not okay with this" I heard Stiles mumbled.

Stiles entered the classroom during my algebra class. We need Sapphire, I guess. There's an emergency that we need to attend to."

"You may accompany your brother, Ms. Stilinski." I heard Ms. Flemming say.

I hurriedly packed my belongings and followed Stiles out of the room. "What is the emergency?" I frantically questioned Stiles.

Scott responded, "That was a lie," and I turned to face him. "Lydia wants us to visit the clinic. It's about Derek."

"That is an emergency." I sighed. All of us sprinted out of the building.

I don't think he's just younger in body," Deaton stated as Lydia was bandaging his arm.
I think he's younger in mind too."

"He didn't recognize either of us, and he looked like he was scared out of his mind," Lydia poke up.

"So if you're a teenage werewolf and you're scared, where do you go?" Stiles asked.

"A wolf goes back to its den. But Derek lives in a loft" Scott said.

"Not when he was a teenager," I said out loud. "The Hale House."

"He wouldn't remember the fire," Deaton said. "It wouldn't have happened yet."

"Hold on. Say you do manage to catch up to him, what are you going to say to him?" Lydia asked. "That his whole family is dead?"
