" In my heart I have but one desire, and that one desire is you. "

Life as we know it, is gone.

The petite girl sat down, the caravan she was on shook as the hungry, flesh-eating monsters got desperate.

She hated them. They gained nothing from eating the living, only self-satisfaction. She looked down at their soulless faces.

They're weak. Only popular in numbers, yet they manged to wipe out an entire population. The worst of it, she was going to die alone to them.

Her eyes caught onto one face. The autumn leaves falling slowly, just like time happened to be. Her lover looked back at her.

That was no longer her lover. The once beautiful girl she fell in love with is gone, and in her place is the very thing that took her.

She remembered so fondly, them holding hands as they ran through the city streets, giggling to each other. They had both promised to have fun, until the end. The memory brought Rae to tears.

She wanted to go home but at the same time she didn't want to leave her. Her limp legs dangled over the edge, she didn't care if they got to her.

The sun lit an illuminous glow over the monsters pretty face. Even through death, her eyes were gentle. The bite mark on her neck tore away all happiness. If only she could go back to when she last saw her alive.

The two young women watched the sky. The morning sun changing the colours across the world. It was beautiful and yet was strange. The world was gone, but everything the two needed was right there, each other.

They giggled, pointing to clouds as the warmth of the sun casted shadows. Rae looked at her, she looked back. She smiled and she smiled back.

Rae had wondered if this was what love was. She wanted to protect the other with her life, hold her close until everything disappeared into the dead. As long as it was just the two together, nothing mattered.

Rae was brought back by the things clawing at her feet. She reached her hand down and her old lover eagerly grabbed at her hand. She looked at those blue eyes, the one that drove her crazy. Her sweet smell was still there.

It was like they were in separate worlds. One of loss and sadness, and another of greed and hunger. Her love pulled at her hand, and she didn't stop her. She let herself be dragged down into the swarm, never breaking eye contact with the undead girl.

Instantly, hands grabbed at her and tore her skin, but she only brought herself closer to her. It didn't matter anymore, they were together at last. The pain from the monsters around her meant nothing because she was finally home.

She felt herself drift away, but she never let go. If it meant she would finally be at peace with her, then she was okay with it.
