It was another peaceful day in ninjago. Since the Oni were defeated, things have gone quiet. Our heroes were given a well deserved break. However, the ninja started to slack off a bit too much. Doing nothing but playing video games and eating cake (looking at you Cole).

Sensei Wu took notice of this, and was not happy.

"We haven't gone soft," Lloyd, the team leader, tried to convince his uncle. "We're in top shape! We're just taking a long awaited break" Lloyd said.

"Yeah! How many times have we saved ninjago? Like a million times!" Jay, the master of lighting and the "annoying one" of the group chimed in.

The other ninja, Kai, Cole, Nya, and Zane agreed. "Give us some credit sensei." Kai said.

Wu shot them an annoyed glare and responded, "This happens after every big victory you achieve! You get lazy! Sloppy! Careless." Wu pointed his staff at them as he spoke.

"Come on sensei, we still got our mad ninja skills!" Cole said punching the air.

"We'll see about that" Wu smirked as he turned and walked away.

The next few days were chaotic.

Wu had set traps all over the monastery. Everywhere they turn, the ninja would fall victim to his traps. No matter how hard they tried to avoid them.

Eventually they had enough.

They tried to talk to Wu, begged him even, to stop with the traps. Wu then had them fight him, to prove that they hadn't gone soft. The ninja hesitated, not sure about fighting an old man.

Big mistake

Wu mopped the floor with them. He didn't even use his own elemental power. Only his wits, and his ninja skills. The ninja were all on the floor, groaning. They finally admitted they had gone soft.

The ninja tried thinking of ways to improve themselves, mentally and physically. But there weren't any villains left, and there was no crime in the entire city! They decided a quest was in order, but again, there wasn't anything to do. The ninja were disappointed, and bored.

Meanwhile, Wu was meditating. He noticed his students struggle, and part of him wanted to help them. But the other part of him wanted them to figure it out themselves.

Then he remembered how his father told him how he would travel to other realms to clear his head or "find himself" as he told him and his brother. An idea sparked in Wu's mind. He looked over at his traveler's tea and smiled.

The next day Wu had called the ninja to the front of the monastery. Pixal, Skylor and Misako by his side.

"What's all this master?" Zane asked. "Yeah, and why is Skylor here?" Kai asked before quickly adding, "Not that I'm not happy to see you or anything!" Kai said waving his arms around with a faint blush on his cheeks.

Skylor simply smirked at her boyfriend's reaction. "Why don't you let Wu over here explain?" She said jabbing a thumb to her side were Wu was standing with travelers tea.

"Is that traveler's tea?" Nya asked. "Indeed it is Nya." Misako answered her. "Ninja, I have a quest for you" Wu said.

The six ninja perked up at this. "Really?!" They said simultaneously.

Wu nodded. "This was something my father and a few monks did back in those days" he said. Watching the ninjas expressions. "I'll be sending you to another realm." He said.

The ninja were surprised. Jay, of course, was the first to voice his surprise. "Waitwaitwaitwait...WHAT?"

"You said you had nothing to do, yes? It's true ninjago has been at peace for a while. And it's thanks to you ninja. But for it to stay that way and not fall into darkness at the hands of evil, you need to be able to protect it." Wu said. "I won't be sending you into any old realm, this one is special. I have no doubt you'll find what your looking for there." Wu explained.

"But sensei, who will defend ninjago while we're gone?" Zane asked concerned.

"Don't worry Zane," Pixal stepped forward taking one of Zane's hands. "Me, Skylor, and a few other elemental masters will defend ninjago while you're gone." She smiled at him. "You need this, as do your fellow ninja. You can rely on us."

Zane smiled at his beloved. "Very well."

The ninja started to get excited. They finally had a quest! No more filing cabinets, or paper cuts, or boredom! They hugged goodbye, and prepared to leave. They briefly went into the monastery to pack some stuff to take on their quest. Then they returned outside.

Wu user the tea to open the portal. "Good luck ninja, I have faith that you'll do well." Wu smiled at his students.

The ninja smiled back at their master. "Yes sensei!" They all said bowing.

Then, they began their journey, and entered this new world.
